Interesting experience!!!
We originaly ordered a different Diamond from Mondera than the one I listed below. The purchase was approved including confirmation # and the credit card amount oked.
We were then contacted by Mondera who stated that the Diamond had been previously been "sold" but they had had trouble removing it from their web site. They then gave a couple of suggestions for other diamonds we might like based on our previous critera. BOTH more expensive (imagine that!!!)
We selected the Diamond that I contacted you all about (bottom of page)
They again confirmed the order. However, the credit card company had reserved the amount of the original diamond selected and Declined payment on the second selection. We corrected that and the purchase was approved.
Now get this part!!!
Last night I checked the Mondera web site to make sure our diamond had been removed. It HAD been taken off the site. HOWEVER, the first diamond we selected was still listed for sale. Now, how is it that they managed to remove the 2nd (more expensive) diamond from the site, but not the first???
Looks to me like a leader diamond to induce you to place an order and then sell you a more expensive one!!! Is this common practice, and if so is it ethical???
Any thoughts?..I''m thinking about calling them today..

Thanks to those who replied...He is the Diamond we purchased

Isn't that bait and switch? Isn't it illegal?

Just got off the phone with Mondera...Didn't have to call them, they called me to inform me that my new diamond would take 10 days longer to get here than promised!!!...LMAO
Anyway, their answer to the switch and bait question was pretty stock. "The purchase was awaiting credit approval"...Talk about sloooooow credit for that poor buyer, they have been trying to get approved for a couple of weeks now!!!...they managed to get ours approved overnight even with the double purchase on the credit card....Sounds like Bull S--- to me!!!

Wasn't this just in the other forum too?

We guarantee our products with a 30 day return policy, and do business with the single goal of satisfying clients. As soon as we have come across the comments of Rough Rock, we have assigned a Client Consultant to make a personal phone call and clarify the situation.

We will endeavour to do our utmost until Rough Rock is entirely satisfied with his experience at Mondera.

Fred, welcome to the forum.

Nice to see big companies talking to consumers.

Your post sounds more like a corporate promotional statement though. Many big companies have this problem.

My friendly advice is to talk in human words to the real people

Right on leonid!

And, btw, Mr. Mouawad, the poster's user name is BlueSkiesAlways, his/her Pricescope level is Rough Rock.

Mr Mauawad,
Thank you for the response to my posting. It is great to see that you are concerned enough about your customers satisfaction to take the time to reply.
As you stated, I received a phone call from a Mondera consultant who was professional, curtious, and appeared to be understanding and sympathetic with regards to my concerns. Unfortunatly, this was the 3rd explaination. Had the first 2 consultants given me a reasonable explaination, the posting could have been avoided altogether!!!
The consultant informed me that the diamond came from a supplier who was slow to update their inventory list. A reasonable explaination. However, I believe it is Monderas responsiblity to avoid any perception of impropriorty. Perhaps a discussion with their suppliers on the result of their mistake may be necessary. (A link to this thread may get the point accross)
When I receive my Diamond from Mondera I'll be happy to share the resolution of the situation with members of the forum.
Again, thanks for the response.

Dear Blueskiesalways,

Let me reassure you that there is no reason to be leery. My family has been in the jewelry business since 1890 (114 years), and I am the 4th generation. We are here to serve our clients, and have built our reputation on that basis.

You are right in suggesting we should work with our suppliers, and we do so on a daily basis. We have already helped many of them set-up better IT systems to be able to support our efforts, and the improvement is continuous. The diamond trade is slower than other industries in adopting technology, and better integration with our suppliers is a focal point of our efforts. We will share your experience with the supplier, and make them once again understand the importance of better managing their uploads on our site.

We look forward to serving you, and I am impatient to get your feedback on the ring.

Respectfully,

As a matter of fact, if you guys would stick around and share your insight on the company and industry practices, you’d save a bunch of money on PR campaigns
