Shall we start the bidding at US $684.99?

Notice how amazingly well-matched the two stones are - it''s almost as if the seller used the same photo of the same stone twice!
Is that a real picture of the stone or a CAD simulation?

They look like sink plugs.

''A Gift of a Gem says you’re not just Kidding around.'' - if that gift is an ugly, dirt cheap emerald, I beg to differ.

''Clarity: SI2'' - really? Try barely translucent.

Save it for the fish tank.
Don''t you think that after recutting they will make gemmy sugarloaf emeralds?
I''m afraid not; it is too opaque for anything.

Nah, it was just a joke. I saw so many "yummy" sugarloaves soming from Swala I just wanted to throw in an idea. BTW I shall be looking for a setting for Eric''s spinel. Found ain interesting designer.

Sorry, I get it now.

I guess these photos are to make all PSers feel better about the few duds we''ve bought. They don''t even compare.

I've made some purchases which have later made me go "what was I thinking." But I think that in order to learn, you need to throw away some money.

Nothing in my collection is as bad as the stones in this and previous threads, though. I remember seeing cheap, opaque emeralds at a fair years ago and being somewhat depressed that there was actually a market for that sort of thing.

...and what's up with those industrial diamonds? Damn, them things are UGLY!

You can throw away money or actually get some very pretty things on ebay for very little money. I recently won a 2 carat beautifully cut portuguese cut baby pink spinel for the whopping sum of $14. Here it is next to another great inexpensive ebay find. A 2.5 carat precision cut hot pink tourmaline with some silk in it (Bob Kast). That stone, if I recall was a bit more expensive, around $79, if I''m not mistaken. It''s not so much finding junk for little on ebay, but you can actually find nice things if you love to spot bargains, like I do. Neither stone is the Hope diamond of course, but I think I did well.

Well-done! Nice to know there are still good shops on ebay.

Who came up with the term frankenstone..i really like it and chuckle everytime i hear it..LOL

I have seen some "rose cut" stones on ebay that look like they just flipped the stone upside down. I wonder how these ebay vendors make any money- I mean no one is going to buy these black diamonds.

Oh, you''d be surprized. Some people are quite masochistic.

I don''t understand how even the most uneducated about gems/diamonds person could see any of these as good stones?

Here''s a real Frankenstone!! Actually this photo is from Pala, when they used it to describe irradiated gems.
