Ok, my wedding is now 16 days away and I am starting to make a list of things that I need to remember to pack for the honeymoon. We are going to the Grenandines in the Carribbean and will be staying on a small island with just 22 cottages so I won''t need nightclubbing clothes or anything...

So, does anyone out there have any must haves?

Sunblock, sunblock and more sunblock. You really don''t want to skimp on it and you run out fast if you use enough. It''s most likely a lot more expensive there too. Don''t forget the aftersun stuff too, even with all the sunblock I still managed to burn. Also if you''re planning to do any hiking or even walking, make sure you have comfortable shoes. Other things you might need: bandaids, tylenol, immodium, mosquito repellant. Depending on where you''re staying, taking shampoo and conditioner may be a good idea as some even luxury hotels might not supply them. Especiall, if you have highlights take conditioner with UV fliters or a hat, the sun really ruins your hair as I found out. If you''re going to a non-English speaking country, I highly recommend buying a pocket dictionary (if you don''t speak the language) as pointing and miming gets kinda frustrating when all you need is a fork.

Thanks. I didn''t even think about bandaids. I was already worried about my very highlighted hair. I bought 2 hats but was planning on getting some deep conditioners with the UV protection. Know any good ones?

Lots of bug spray!!

Unless you''re planning on having babies right away, don''t forget your contraceptives.

The groom!

It''s very important to remember to bring the groom!

Your luggage!!

Don't laugh, ours got lost on the way to Tahiti for our honeymoon and I had to wear the same clothes for THREE DAYS since flights only left once a day and the 2nd day they forgot the luggage and then it took hours to get out to us on our island on the third day etc etc.

At first I was beside myself as I had no clothes except what I had on and another tank top thank god and I thought 'how is this happening on our honeymoon?!?'...we bought bathing suits asap so we at least had those and we had all my toiletries which got us by....but I had of course all sorts of new fun island clothes that I had bought for the trip. Greg didn't care since he had a bathing suit and that was all he needed!!

When the luggage finally got there (a few phone calls and a serious tantrum

later), I was totally over it. It was fun to have the new stuff finally, but at that point I was content with my bathing suit.

Moral of the story, pack a separate carry on with a change of clothes for you and hubby, and all your main toiletries, prescriptions etc. Thank god I had all of that or else it would have really been a fiasco. Some clothes were not as big of a deal as all of the 'daily' stuff that is necessary that can't be easily replaced.

Oh and in case of emergency lost luggage, I do not recommend kicking a small wooden stool with your bare foot while on the phone with the infuriating non-English speaking airline contact, so that your foot swells up and you can't walk on it for a day...like I did.

Much better on the foot (and new hubby) to just drink another pina colada.

On a serious note...in Tahiti which was very small and unassuming...we spent alot of time by the water....so my bathing suit, sunscreen, floppy hat, reading material, and flip flops were a must. Lots of casual tank tops, bathing suit tank coverups, skirt coverups, more flip flops, linen pants and tanks for dinner/evening along with lots of mosquito repellant. Bring a jean jacket or sweater or something for cool nights just in case. Lots of FILM and/or charge the digital camera and bring lots of memory. One of the biggest costs on our trip were disposable cameras, my digital ran out of memory on day 2 and we spent literally over $200 buying disposable cameras, they were TWENTY DOLLARS EACH and the underwater ones were THIRTY. Total ripoff but they knew they had you!! I bought about 9 total but it was a necessary expenditure.

Shampoo and conditioner a must, a big one, because we washed our hair ~2ce a day depending on if we swam etc.

HI all...

One thing I lilke to make sure I take on vacation...especially if I am leaving the country...or going to a remote area is a little bag with basic medications...

I try to always have the bascis at home...and I get the little travel ones for trips...

Such as

Tylenol
Tylenol PM (especially if you are changing time zones and have trouble sleeping :-)
Motrin/Advil/Ibuprofen or Naproxen
Immodium (anti-diarrhea :-)
Dayquil/Nyquil like stuff or multisymptom cold tablets
Antihistamines (such as claratin/claritin D)

You can also put bandaids, and antibiotic ointment in there

I also put any prescription medications in there and pack it in my carry-on

Thanks for the advice everyone. I am copying everything to my Excel sheet. The list of basic medicines are a great idea! And yes, contraception is a definite must. My fiance and I already have 2 kids between us and we don''t think we need more anytime soon! We are going carry-on only so hopefully I won''t have any luggage hassles---but just in case I will remember to drink more pina colada''s instead of kicking things :)
