Hi, gang. I'm very new to colored gemstones, but I find them really exciting and fun (and the semi-precious ones are soooo much cheaper than diamonds 
). The first colored gemstone I purchased was a tacori East-West oval amethyst ring in silver(very beautiful, and at an excellent price point of $290). And i just pulled the trigger on my 2nd colored gemstone selection-- a cabochon cushion cut chalcedony (it faces up kinda like a three and a half carat) in a petite 14k yellow gold setting with 14 tiny diamond sidestones. It was 50% off for mother's day, so even if the color saturation isn't up to snuff for most colored gemstone purists, I think it's a lovely piece for only $280( and the person I'm giving it to has a smallish 5.5 ring finger, so the petite band shouldn't be overpowered).

It's an Oregon sunstone! You can't really see in the pic but when the stone is tilted to one side you can see the copper schiller!
