I attempted an aset image with my new aset scope and my iPhone on my 2.19 G VS1 mounted diamond from Blue Nile today. They were not easy to capture. Please let me know if I need to retake any images and if there's any visible light leakage. Gia report shows depth of the diamond as 62.3% with 35.0 crown and 41.0 Pavillion. HCA is 2.2-2.3 depending on if ideal or excellent is chosen.

Well done.
Just a hint of under table leakage but not enough to hurt anything.

@mochidiamonds I’m no expert in reading those images but I can tell they were well taken. I was thinking about doing the same thing for my new ring but wasn’t sure if it will work for a mounted diamond. Did you just get the Aset scope? Or did you get other accessories to help in taking those photos?

Thanks @ Karl_K for your wonderful knowledge!!! Is it correct a Whiteflash ACA diamond wouldn't or shouldn't have any light leakage?

@Nancy Z, yes all I used was the aset scope. I taped the scope to my iphone camera lens. You could possibly use putty to adhere the scope to the camera lens as well. I read the aset scope was better than the Ideal Scope for mounted diamonds. I held the ring over my laptop screen with a blank word document open as background light. It took multiple tries to get it right. Let me know if you have any more questions. :) Are you still deciding whether to keep your new ring?

@mochidiamonds thank you! Well I just got mine two days ago, most likely I will keep it but since it’s gonna be last upgrade I just want to be sure. Maybe I should have ordered one before receiving the ring... how long did it take to arrive?

The eBay one might be the fastest one at 3-5 days shipping. You can also order via David Atlas, directly from AGS lab or PriceScope. Hopefully you can find one that arrives soon enough! What were your crown and pavillion angles? I’d be interested to see your aset images. :)

I can not comment on an aca or the brand per the forum rules.
Every diamond has some leakage its a matter of where and how much.
This image is a computer generated "perfectly cut" diamond with backlit only and you can see it has leakage.

The brighter the area the more leakage the ones under the table are only around 3% or so and not considered significant.
It is the area between the arrows where you will see more leakage develop as diamonds get steep deep.

@mochidiamonds my diamond is slightly shallower. The crown angle is 34 and pavilion 40.8. I upgraded with BN as well  My husband just told me to leave it as is, it looks fine and no need to find out how the Aset image is like since I’ve already bought it. I probably should stop overthinking it and just enjoy the ring. :lol-2: I hope you enjoy your ring as well! ::)
Here is my previous thread, I posted some pics of the ring if you are interested.

Just a note...you choose excellent on the HCA if the stone is GIA Ex cut and choose Ideal if the stone is graded AGS Ideal.

Thanks again @Karl_K! And thanks @diamondseeker2006 for explaining the ideal and excellent section on the HCA calculator. I ran it twice because I didn't know which one it was. lol

@Nancy Z Wow!!! That's a very BEAUTIFUL diamond you have!!! You have complementary angles too!! Thanks for sharing!! :)
