This is a project that almost never happened, because of...... stuff. But in the end I wanted the ring, and David Klass bent over backwards to make sure I was happy. There are things about the design that I wish I'd done different, but each is completely on me. It's 2.87 CTW, has a CBI, 3 WF, and one unbranded diamond. The unbranded is very well cut, and it favors white light return just a hair more than the branded ones. I have to really be looking to see that. The sides of the ring are lace-leaf Japanese Maple leaves, taken from pic of trees I grew years ago. I'm posting the pics David sent me, because the ones I tried to take are hopeless

Well that’s just an absolute work of art. I hope you love wearing it!

What a beautiful ring! I bet it’s amazing on the hand!

Would love to see hand shots!

Absolutely unique and beautiful!

A big congratulations on your finished ring! Please post some hand shots :)

It turned out just as I expected. A work of art. I can't imagine what you would change.

It looks lovely

its lovelyness aside - with the sentimental aspects you’ve stated this ring encompasses -
enjoy it well, wear it often, and for a long, long time.

This is beautiful! What a beautiful design! I hope it makes your heart beat a little faster each time you wear it!

I love the gold flowers! 5 stones bling so hard, enjoy!

Wowwwwww so pretty!

This is gorgeous and so, so unique. It really is art!

It’s so beautiful and unique and organic.
And we need more pics if you please :D

Hand shots! Hand shots! Hand shots! It's stunning and OOAK:love:

The short version of what I'd do differently is that I wouldn't ignore the things I didn't like about the top view because I was looking so much at the side view. The gold flowers closest to each end enhance the size of the end stones too much, make it appear to not taper enough. Here's what I'd do if I was doing it today.

FWIW, I really like your final design- with its very unique asymmetry that’s actually symmetrical in the balance. The delicate “staggered” placement of the gold flowers is lovely, like they dropped there. To me the final piece really captures the elements of “from nature” Art Nouveau design. It’s beautiful!

Yes, I have to second this, it is organic perfection.

Well I have to say that I really love it the way it is. I don't see what you are seeing but then I don't have it in front of me. I love the asymmetrical placement and think that is what makes it such an art piece.

If it really bothers you. send it back for a rework. Might as well have it done to please you as it is a forever piece!

I agree, it’s an heirloom piece with really great diamonds. I would 100% try to make it feel right by if you need to reworking. DKJ is known for helping customers achieve their perfection. (Just saying in my eyes it’s really stunning.)

OP are you able to wear it yet? How do you feel about the design IRL?

Yes, I've been wearing it.

I love the asymetry too, when I look at it from the side. That's part of why I like the side view so much that I didn't look at things I didn't like in the top view.

I definitely think you should tell him if you aren't happy. I love the side view and think it's organic and lovely, but you should definitely make sure you're happy.

I completely agree with @lovedogs. I love it the way it is but you have to be 100% thrilled. David Klass is well known for making sure his customers are happy.

If you’re comfy sharing I would love to see some of your pictures!! I’m very sure they’re not hopeless ::)

Custom can be really hard - it’s really hard to preemptively prioritize concepts and concerns. Personally I really appreciate some gallery asymmetry and would have a hard time letting that go, but ditto everyone else, you should be 100% thrilled! You shared some of what this piece represents for you - memories and triumphs and losses and serenity. So if you feel that there’s something that doesn’t quite bring your vision or sentiment to life - definitely let your vendor know ❤️

That's what I've heard, and seen myself so far. I've been reluctant to contact him about it because I wouldn't want him to do the work on his own dime, and especially not remake the whole ring. It would be different if he messed up, but it's entirely on me.

Honestly, I would contact him, explain what you want done, and offer to pay for the changes. He may or may not take you up on it but no matter; at least you can make the changes that will make you happy with the ring.

How original, I love it!

:kiss2: Beautiful
