I'M ENGAGED!!!!!! My FI (
) proposed on Saturday! YAY!!! I'm so happy! I can't stop smiling!
Some of you may know this already, but for those of you who don't, we're high school sweethearts. We've been dating for over 8.5 years so when I say "finally" I really mean it!
The proposal:
It all started last Monday. When he left for work in the morning he left me this really sweet note about how he felt when we first started dating. At first I didn't think anything of it because we had an argument the night before about something stupid that I can't even remember, so I thought this was his way of making up. Next morning, the same thing, another note. This goes on all week. All these notes are about memories and important moments in our relationship and how he felt at the time and how he feels now thinking back. He is so sweet! I honestly wasn't thinking that this has anything to do with the proposal because as far as I knew my ring wasn't finished yet. I just thought he was in a lovey dovey mood, hehe!
So, Friday morning I get this really cute email from him. It says "You are cordially invited to a dinner for two". It goes on to give me the date and time, but next to venue he wrote "It's a surprise". So at this point I'm wondering what's going on. I'm starting to think about the proposal but still, no ring. And we both want the ring before the proposal.
The venue ended up being this amazing restaurant called Mosaic. It was voted number 2 in the top 10 restaurants in South Africa and it's the only one in the top 10 close to where we live so we've been wanting to go there for a while. This place was gorgeous, decorated in an oriental theme and so romantic! Plus the food was to die for! We had an awesome evening!
So, we get home and I start getting ready for bed. I'm feeling a little disappointed because a part of me thought it was going to happen. When I'm done in the bathroom I walk into our bedroom and there's a whole bunch of candles lit! And our song is playing! He starts saying all these nice things which I have to admit I can hardly remember now because I was so shocked! And then he proposes, with the ring! Turns out the ring was ready early. It was perfect in every way! This way I feel like I got it both ways: the fairytale part by going for this amazing, romantic dinner; and the quiet, private proposal.
Once we calmed down a bit after the initial high of being engaged and staring at the ring in the candle light (
), he pulls out another note and starts reading it to me. It is the 'summary' of all the other notes. It says "I remember our beginning, I remember our journey so far. I know it's only just the beginning still and I look forward to what the future will hold with you by my side. I look forward to making you my bride." How sweet is my FI!!!
