IMG_4003.PNG Hi all,

I recently came across a pair of earrings online which inspired me to create something similar. Would love to know what you think and learn from your experiences on how tough/easy it is to create such a reproduction.

Here is the inspiration photo. Only instead of the square diamond in the middle I am thinking small 3mm neon Paraiba. I've uploaded this photo in such a way that if you see if on your iPhone, the earrings will be to scale so you can also get an idea of the size. I'm thinking 8mm size for the mint tourmalines.

I love your inspiration earrings and can't wait to see your project come to fruition

They look great. I would go talk to madly gems, looks a bit like something they might create -- may find their prices uncompetative but it never hurts to ask, and there is good coffee nearby in yong siak street anyways.

Thank you :) it will definitely take some time. I need to find a good jeweller for this without breaking the bank! I'm considering going without the halo now and getting the mint stones cut in this cut for more sparkle versus the clarity of an asscher.

They will look more minty then and less blue green in a sense but it may look good too. What do you think looks better?

I live very close to them so I did go check them out. They have great stuff but I really find it a big overpriced. In constrast some good Hong Kong based jewellers offer the same thing for half the price.

But yeah madly would have been my first choice if it wasn't for my meagre budget.

Are you also based in singapore ?

I am too much into step cuts to vote on anything more complicated ... The paved frames could get out of the picture any day, IHMO, in favor of WWW

If mint tourmaline is difficult to find, beryl can also come in 'mint' green-blue. I have not seen a nice cut pair recently, but more or less fine rough ... without even looking for it. As expected, the stones can be larger than fine tourmalline, if you wish some rather substantial earrings; small stones of this material may not be as impressive ... since the colour is subtler. The combination of larger beryls and small Paraiba dots would work great, IHMO

Yes, they are overpriced. There will also be a phenomenal amount of labour in this particular piece as there is so much pave work. So I think you are spot on -- Hong Kong will be a lot cheaper as they will send it accross the border to china where labour is a fraction of what you will pay here. DK even had a bench in shenzhen (who I wish I had asked for the name of), maybe she will come back and enable our bling habit ?

There are a lot of pricescopers in Singapore, they just post sporadically.

Duly noted on step cuts

You know I'd love to check out Beryls but somehow I never see any. Could you post some sources?

I am looking for an 8mm or smaller simply because any larger than that I wouldn't be able to wear to work! I tend to buy all cs to wear to work as well, that's basically all I do with my time!

There is a singapore jewellery fair end of this month! We should plan a PS get together then!

I'm planning to find some good Hong Kong based jewellers there to figure out how to set these and all my other gems

I am registered for it . Unfortunately I have just realized that I need to be in Shenzhen/Hong Kong next week. So in all probability (depending on chinese visa centre availability arround Deepavali) I wont be here. I will just have to live vicariously through pricescope.
