My Dream Marquise E-ring is Finally Here!

This is my first post after quite a bit of lurking around!

Here goes......

I've been searching for the perfect marquise for the longest time and as with any fancy cut, there was an endless list of criteria to fulfill!

Wanted something fatter, but still within a certain carat size and dimensions and I FINALLY FOUND IT after more than a year of searching.

Got it, and brought it to my mother's excellent jeweler to set. I brought printouts from rings here but in the end I ended up with something super simple. I like it though! Kinda makes the stone the focus of all the attention

We aren't planning anything too soon but HTB said that we'll just start with the ring first

For reference, it's a GIA 2.35ct H, SI2, med blue fluorescence with a ratio of 1.92.

Cut: Very Good
Polish: Good
Symmetry: Good
Measurements: 13.74 7.18 x 4.11 mm

And I'm a size 5.5.

I actually modeled the band after the Tiffany Lucida as I loved it's width (2.75mm) and the height of the dome.

I wanted an x-prong but unfortunately impossible due to the stones edges so my jeweler remodeled the basket into something with a finer design.

My only requirement was that I needed my wedding band to sit flush with the ring which is why the basket isn't sitting on my finger. It's about 1.5mm raised.

Was thinking of getting just a plain matching domed band like Ellen's Vatche x prong set. Love it!

Will try taking more photos of it in the sun later but my Blackberry camera is soooo sucky.

It is very beautiful - elegant and graceful. I love the perfect proportions of the undercarriage (can you call it a gallery when it is separate from the actual ring the way it is?) it looks like outstretched wings holding up the stone.
