My ering is finally complete! I found the PERFECT DIAMOND and the PERFECT SETTING! And I absolutely adore my fiancé for being supportive and patient with me through our search for the perfect ring.
We got the diamond for an amazing price from James Allen and then ordered a custom lotus setting from Sally. The setting arrived on Friday and we had it set yesterday. Here are the stats:
DIAMOND STATS:
.81 H&A Ideal cut --- cert. from AGS
J color
VS2 clarity
SETTING STATS:
White gold
Band is 1.6mm wide (I asked Sally to make the band wider due to durability concerns)
Size 2.5
My ring size is actually closer to a 2. The ring is loose...not loose enough to fall off my finger, but it does swirl around a bunch. So the diamond appears much larger than a .81. I originally looked at 1 carat diamonds before trying one on and realizing that it was WAY TOO BIG for my personal tastes. So we went down to a .81...still big, but not too big. It's graded as a J, but I can't see the color in it for the life of me. In the sunlight and even in the shade, it looks whiter and icier than my white gold setting.
Anyway, here are photos:
