My dress shopping experience was actually fun!!

Hello! Thank you all so much for your support and kind words in my post about how much I was dreading dress shopping. I went today and actually had fun! I knew that the second one I tried on was "the one" but I forced myself to try on a few more and then go to a second store before going back to David''s Bridal and ordering this one:

I had to buy a 16W, which surprised me because I wear a 16 and had been expecting the dresses to run very small. The 18 was just too big, though!

Hoping it will need major alterations (as in taking it up) by the time it arrives. David''s was having a sale that ended today so it was $50 off.

And you guys were so right about me not putting it off any longer- it should arrive no later than July 1st and the wedding is August 6th!!

I don''t think I''m cutting it too finely but it''s still a bit close for comfort.

So thank you again! I can''t wait to show you pics of me in the dress!!

Oh, ladies, thank you so much for your kind words! I should have mentioned that I ordered it in ivory, the same color as the model in the pic. I had brought my digital camera but my mom and I got so excited that we totally forgot to take pics!! We're such geeks. We just thought it was perfect for a cruise wedding- quite simple and casual, but still a bit "bride-y".

Funny, I was talking to a friend of mine whose sister got married in January in a very large, expensive wedding. She bought her dress at Neiman's for around 3K. My friend was saying that you don't have to go to Neiman's, there are cheaper places to get dresses, "and gee, even David's Bridal has some nice things if you look hard enough." I can't wait to see the look on her face when I tell her where I got my dress AND what I paid for it!

My friend paid $2k for her dress and we found one very similar to it in a DB catalog for just $599. Before that, she didn''t think DB had any nice dresses. She''s going with me today to look at some, so I hope she gets proven wrong again.

Oh my God, that is the very same dress I got yesterday chickflick!

I did get mine in light gold, though. I guess great minds do think alike!

We are aslo having a non traditional wedding, so I agree that this dress is perfect for that. Simple but elegant.

I also second the great service and friendly people that I dealt with at David''s Bridal. After some of the stories I had heard, I wasn''t sure but they were very helpful and accommadating.

I am a red head, so light skin is my curse too! I didn''t see that dress in ivory, so I can''t wait to see pics of it!

My mom and sister were with me and they really liked the look of the ivory/off white dresses that I tried on better then the white ones. They thought my skin tone didn''t look as washed out in them. There was two other dresses that I liked, but they had fairly long trains (which I didn''t want, with an outdoor wedding) and they were more expensive, so no brainer as to which one to go with. Plus the fact that it is very figure flattering.

When I go for the alterations (it''s a little too long) I will have my sister take a picture. Congrats again on your choice!

The dress is so pretty!!!! I tried on 3 dresses and then tried on the 4th one, I didn''t want to take it off...so I ordered...I''m surprised it''s taking so long to get yours in, I think mine was to take 3 weeks but it actually came in a few days early. Start calling in about 3 weeks to see if it''s in yet....hopefully you''ll get lucky.
