I had a post awhile ago about my DH doesn''t want to reset my ER due to our tight budget. After some talks, he agreed to take it to a local jeweler and have it remade into a new setting using the same metal and same stone. My old ER was in a high 4-prong setting and would get caught on everything. In search of an alternative setting that would be my style, i decided to go with a semi bezel to avoid the prong problems. Same metal and same stone, so the sentiments are still there (it''s very important to DH). The remake cost a lot less than buying a new setting and adding sapphires, since they just needed to melt down my old ring and put it in a new mold. I waited for a month to get it back - and it is amazing! So comfortable to wear and no more catching on things because the semi bezel head is so smooth! Oh I also like how the diamond is like floating, which allows more light and more sparkles!
