My FI did nada. Big jerk.

Basically, he talked last week about how it''s just a hassle to go out to dinner in NYC on Valentine''s Day, etc, and he goes "What do you want?", meaning gift wise. I know V-Day is a Hallmark holiday,. and cheesy, but I still think someone should do something for their sweetheart, even if it''s just something small and thoughtful. Anyway, now I think he feels guilty b/c I told him yesterday how lame I thought it was that he made such a stink about not doing anything, when something small would have been nice. He just called me at work and was like "Come home so I can take you out.".
Geez, don''t do me any favors.

Seriously, our first year together he was all about surprises. He''s gotten waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too comfortable.

And yes, I could have planned something too but when he went on and on last week, I figured "Why bother?".

Im sorry that your FI isn''t being all that romantic. I am not a romantic AT ALL and really don''t like "hallmark holidays" but I would also be upset if my boyfriend didn''t at least do something thoughtful, like give me a cute card or make me a cd with our songs on it or SOMETHING!! Sometimes they can''t get the hint...

Aw, my FI wanted to take me out to my favorite restaurant.. but we got hit with killer utility bills yesterday.. and those come first, sadly.. God forbid we should actually turn ON the heat for warmth in the four hours we are awake at the house..

Oh Morticia.

I totally feel for you. My FI and I got into a fight last night.

I, also, think my FI has gotten waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too comfortable. There was a time when he was super affectionate and he''d complain that I''m not affectionate enough.

It''s funny how things have changed.

I guess it''s a good thing that my BF broke the heater, and now we''re unable to turn it on.

Morticia, I''m sorry your FI is so lame.

Why can''t men figure out that it''s not the fact that it''s a commercial holiday, but that it''s a day you spend showing your Sig. Other how much they mean to you?

Here are flowers for everyone:

Sorry! I know how it feels when you think that the least they could do is some little sweet gesture and they do nothing!
This happened to me last year, and we ended up going out to dinner with his parents and his sister''s family because he didn''t make any plans in advance...grrr!!
Luckily he gathered from my reaction that it was not OK!!!!
This year we have had a really nice Valentine''s day because I think I finally drilled it into his head that it''s important to me even if it''s cheesy and Hallmark-sponsored.
He has come to the realization that since it''s important to me, it''s important to him because he wants to make me happy.
Anyway, if you can make him understand that it''s a holiday for the two of you to celebrate your love vs. a holiday for gifts/flowers/etc maybe he will come around a little even if it''s just to humor you.
Good luck!!!!
