I woke up this morning and it feels like my left ring finger is broken. I think I might have sprained it in the middle of the night.

After some deep thinking, I remember my dream being mainly about my e-ring and an engagement. Have any of you LIW''s had this happen?? Must have been a pretty heavy ring!!!

Seriously?!?! Whoa lady, must have been a boulder!

You had me all excited that you got engaged. That''s a good story though!

Something like this has been happening to me a lot lately. You might be onto something: you''re thinking about an engagement, so you''re "projecting" that onto your finger. Our bodies have the ability to "store" emotions in them. Our emotions are energy, and if you don''t let them out, that energy has to go somewhere. For example, when I feel overwhelmed with something in my life, my shoulders and neck hurt. Same spot all the time. I couldn''t figure out why this was happening until a friend of mine who is a massage therapist/Reiki practitioner pointed out that this was a classic painful spot for people who "hold the world on their shoulders." When I feel that pain and there''s no good reason (such as that I was horsing around with my son or carrying heavy objects), it''s my clue to take some downtime, a hot bath and chill out away from the stress. And whaddya know? It goes away.

Lately, I am preoccupied with my BF deciding where our relationship is going. It''s been 2 years, and while I don''t need to get married tomorrow, I do want some answers. He knows he''s got to make some kind of decision/choice soon. Well, the last two weeks or so, I''ve woken up with the feeling that I lost a ring. You know that "checking" motion that you do when you have a new ring or forgot to put a usual one on -- feeling the underside of your finger with your thumb? I''ve woken up doing that to my left ring finger several times so far. And it''s weird. I don''t wear any jewelery to bed and haven''t worn any ring on that finger regularly since I got divorced going on 4 years ago. Wishful thinking, maybe.

Seriously, I think I might have strained the tendon that runs under the finger, or whatever is down there... i''m just as baffled!!! I''m sorry to get your hopes up. Trust me, you all WILL KNOW the minute I can get to a computer after he pops the question!!!

You know, they often say if you are asleep and are in a bad position which is causing an ache or a pain, your brain registers it as if you were awake but because you are not fully conscious these sensations occasionally become a part of your dream. I know I''ve had dreams where I''ve had something painful happen only to wake up and find that the same body part aches in real life. I once fell asleep long before my SO and at one point when rolling over in my sleep I slammed my hand on my nightstand. I did not wake up then but the next morning I was telling my SO I had a dream I slammed my hand in the car door and it hurt. Maybe you were pending your finger in your sleep somehow?

Wow how strange. I can''t relate with the finger thing exactly but I''ve had similar experiences with hurting myself while I''m sleeping and then dreaming about what happened.

It''s crazy how the body and the mind work together... especially when we''re not even conscious to what is happening around us.

just be glad you don''t sleepwalk! when i work longer hours than normal ill sit up in bed and start doing my job in my sleep and my so will have to somehow coerce me to lay back down. usually in the morning i don''t remember at all it''s so weird! the other night my so asked me why i can''t work as a stripper so that i would do that in my sleep instead

I could totally see my BF saying that. Boys are so much alike.
