My very first amethyst ring came back from the jewelers yesterday. It is a 2.37 ct cushion cut (8 x 8 mm) from Barry.

Wow! That is gorgeous!

What-no hand shots of this lovely lovely ring???? I think that''s a gross violation of our rights.

Oooh! I love purple! Very pretty!

It''s a beauty, Charmy! That''s an LOGR setting, right? Do you have a profile shot?

Pretty ring and great color.

Thanks everyone. The ring is actually going back to the jeweler because one of the prongs is fat and all the prongs are scratched up. This is indeed a LOGR setting but the prongs were short and very difficult to set with a deeper stone. The jeweler is going to size down the prongs and re-polish them. I hate big chunky prongs although this one looks fine in real life.

I don''t have a handshot other than what I have attached. The stone wasn''t set when these photos were taken.

Gorgeous!

Very nice; lovely color!

While I usually like yellow gold for amethysts, I think it looks just as lovely in your white gold setting.

Charmy, with the prongs being especially short, can you tell me about how deep the basket is in total? What kept me from going ahead with this setting was that it looked rather shallow.

Very pretty! I love the color of the amethyst.

Also, I hope that your jeweler fixes up the prongs easily!

With the stone set, it is a little difficult for me to measure and I didn''t measure the stone depth befor setting it. I will try to measure it when I get home.

I can tell you that the setting was shallow for almost all of my stones. I had the setting remade for a 8 mm stone and it was too shallow for that. The setting was probably made for pancake stones. I should have asked LOGR to build up the prongs.

No need to do specific measuring, mine is 11mm deep so I know there''s no way it''s fitting in the basket as is. Thanks Charmy!

Charmy, it''s absolutely gorgeous...the stone and the setting really goes well together!

Very pretty stone. I think you will get a lot of enjoyment out of the ring once it is finished.

BTW, what kind of cat do you have? I don''t think I have ever seen one quite like that. It looks like a Yorkie (the little dog) to me, or something.

She is an exotic long hair (sorta like a persian). I think she just looks funny in the photo because she was wet and getting a bath. I was such a dog person (I own 3 Maltese) but my boyfriend made me into a cat person too. We now own this little girl (no name) and also a bengal/persian mix.

Wow! What an incredible ring!!! I love the cushion cut!!

Beautiful amethyst!
