I''m a bit nervous.

I am super klutzy and have never done any photo sessions before (not even for family portraits) and I''m so scared the pics will look awkward!!!!!

Can you guys share experiences? How was your photographer? Did they instruct you to pose or anything? Or did they just let you do your own thing?

Oh, and how long did your session last?

TIA!

OMG I know how you feel! We actually didn''t have a full on engagement session, but when we booked our photographer a free "portrait session" was included in the promo, along with 20% off the total price... so hence we booked!!

We just had ours this past Sunday, downtown Chicago, and it was quick, about 30 minutes since it wasn''t a full engagement session.

I have to say, FI and I are NOT the posing picture type, AT ALL! Our photographer (who won''t likely be our wedding photog) was so great. Telling us what to do, laughing, and totally made us feel comfortable. FI and I just laughed half the time, since it was a bit awkward, but hopefully it will turn out some natural looking pictures in the end!

I''m sure your photographer will instruct you on how to pose or act, I mean, most of us aren''t exactly in the business of posing for a living!! Just relax and try to keep it natural and in line with both of your personalities! I''m sure they''ll turn out great.

Thanks MagsyMay!!

I''m sure she will do everything in her power to make it a great session and great photos. She has told me that she will be using our photos in her portfolio.

Fi and I plan to goof off the entire time haha

I love your ER btw...

Have a good time, and be yourselves is my top piece of advice.

Our photog was awesome; he did some posed shots, along with some photojournalistic shots. He really wanted to capture us doing our own ''thing'', so most shots were photojournalistic style. After a while, it was like he wasn''t there at all. Our shoot lasted about 3 hours in the 90 degree weather (that was bad, lol!).

just be yourself and have fun! the photographer usually suggests what type of pose would work well but if your uncomfortable with it, just be honest and tell it to him/her.

we had our e-pic session (our 1st time also!) and we all (including the photographer) had fun! it was supposed to be 2 hours but we ended up doing the e-pic for more than that! haha. (this was an outdoor e-pic session so that 2 hour is not purely photo taking. we had to drive around and find a good place to take photos).

when we started the shoot, the first few poses was really awkward because i CANNOT stop laughing when i look at FI! i don't know why!!! haha.

just be yourself! the laughing shots are the best bc you have a natural smile. our photographer really didn''t give much instruction, but our pics still turned out great! i remember reading a while back that right before your pic is taken (for posed shots), look away at a different point and then look back at the camera and smile right as she is taking the picture-it is supposed to make your expression more natural. don''t know if it works though :) good luck!!! i''m sure you will do great.

that''s my technique! haha. i look at my feet and then at the camera! i thought i was the only one doing this but apparently there are others.

yay how exciting!

We just did our e-session a couple weeks ago. I remember telling L that it wasn''t going to be longer than a couple hours...boy was I wrong. Ours lasted 4 hours and it was cold...and I was wearing heels. You''ll have fun regardless!
