I thought it''d be easier to post a picture of what the necklace will probably end up looking like when it''s finished then try to squeeze it all into one reply.
Our jeweler has a whole process. For my FI''s ring, he is taking a part of the stone, setting into a channel, and then polishing the heck out of it. FI saw it yesterday and said that he was only just starting it and it already looks better than he anticipated.

He''s having our jeweler make me a necklace out of the rock that he is using for his own ring. It''s a rock we found on the shore of Loch Ness on the day we got engaged. It won''t be done by the wedding, but I''m still looking forward to seeing it!
