So earlier this week my (wonderful amazing) husband took me on a last minute trip to London, he actually suggested the jewellery market Greys Antiques commenting that perhaps I might have a ‘little something’. Now this is the first time that he has ever made a comment like this in our 13 year relationship, needless to say I wasn’t going to look at gift horse in the mouth

To be honest it’s pretty overwhelming there, there are some truly amazing pieces of jewellery wherever you turn but this caught my eye, namely because of the size of it!

Its not perfect, it’s not unexpectedly pretty included, color is better at a very slight tilt and from the side but hey I’m not a multi millionaire!
It’s a 15 carat Columbian with minor oil, the yellow gold setting is straight from the 70s, retro baby!

I love how it is all about the stone and because it’s not blinded up it doesn’t look ridiculously ostentatious!

So I proudly present my green marble (excuse the scabby hands and rubbish photos )

I almost didn’t click to look on this thread because I thought it was a semi precious green opaque stone like malachite, but it’s a freaking HUGE gorgeous EMERALD!!!!!:eek2::eek2::eek2::love:

We need better thread titles people!!!

Fantastic! Love love love this!

I love this so much!!!!!!

Very beautiful! Usually i don`t like those high domed cabs but with these inclusions it`s awesome. Like a tiny world inside.

:Swoon:
Looks beautiful on you!

Gorgeous!!

Wow! I love that ring soooo much. What a goegeous and mesmerizing green. I can only dream about a ring like this. And that setting is absolutely stunning. Very well made and very pretty. Would love to see a lot more pics.

Seriously playful ring!

That thread title is pretty misleading, lol! What an awesome emerald ring, its "imperfections" make it super cool and unique :-)

What a fun ring!

A wondrous orb that looks like it possesses magical powers!

Omg, this looks so much better than the title would lead you to believe! Lol, congrats :mrgreen2:

Thanks everyone for the lovely compliments!

@T L what can I say it just said marble to me! Somehow not real although having now googled marbles the color of this is definitely better
@Fabian Kneipp and @icy_jade yes I see your points I had not thought of it like that!
@Acinom thank you so much, that is a fabulous compliment coming from you as so many of your rings are amongst my favourites on pricescope, but it reminds me of a few of your rings in fact
@AV_ yes I think playful is a good word for It!

Completely fabulous!!!
That high dome is scrumptious!:love::love::love:

Gorgeous! I love how high that cabachon is! And really digging the rope design.

Great find! I love the microscopic world in that stone!

More pictures please....:appl:

I like it!

Could you consider getting the ring rhodium dipped (??) it you wanted white instead of yellow gold?

Everyone’s tastes differ, but :eek2:!

I hope your husband loved your "marble" as much as I do.

After a score like this, I predict it won't be too long before he suggests another jaunt to the jewellery market! =)2

Thats a statement piece!! Holy Moly!! Its TDF!!! Congrats to YOU!!

Thanks toneveryone for their kind words!

Yes I love the high dome @stracci2000 and @partgypsy it’s yummy definitely a major selling point.

@OoohShiny I like the yellow gold :D, I wasn’t against white gold or platinum either would have been fine but I love the design and yellow gold for this stone and setting looks perfect to me.

@prs think this will be it for a long while tbh at least 2 or 3 years but probably more (unless I buy something myself) and that’s fine obviously! I only had my sapphire ring a little while ago, this was a present for 2 birthdays and 2 Christmas’s plus some funds I contributed so this ring which was a lot more pricey is kind of a big deal! Also I often buy little bits anyway I just got a Victorian bird brooch that I will get converted soon into a necklace and will be my Christmas present.

Will take some more pics

I’m not great at bling pics but here is a quick go, it’s fair to say that it looks more vibrant irl! In fact as I’m uploading it looks even more washed out on screen

And a couple of photos of an imperfect but worn and treasured small collection!

Oh and @Bonfire loved your comment as you don’t know me irl I know that you aren’t calling me a witch

Wow, I wish marbles were huge gorgeous emeralds when I was a kid:love::cheeky:

The setting is nice, but that stone is worthy of lots of blingy diamond side stones.

Lol tell me about it :Up_to_something2: The thing is I just wouldn’t wear it that often if it looked like that. I love blingy settings but sadly I’m not at balls and on yachts for six months of the year. I live in a wealthy but fairly conservative English country town, my engagement ring is already huge and I choose because of that to not always wear it - hindsight eh o_O
This is so simple and the stone is so big that many will just peg it down as a bit of green glass (maybe even a marble ) and that’s fine by me!
