Incredible! Doug did an amazing job. :appl: His cutting really is impeccable. Congrats!
BTW, I love your avatar too. It makes me smile every time I see it.

Wow!

I think your amethyst is wonderful. I just adore the cut.

Oh boy, oh boy, oh boy! Gorgeous. Wonderful cut. I'm totally green & envious!

Thank you all for the lovely comments, I cannot wait to get it. It came in at 10.7x10.7x9mm, 5.8ct, eye clean, excellent colour, nice and bright. He said it was a "fine water" piece of rough and I still have enough to cut a 6x14 emerald cut later.

Faegrace,
Thank you, the ring in my avatar is one of my favorites, Brian Gavin made it for me.

Absolutely gorgeous!

And at that size, that stone is going to have serious presence. I can't wait to see your photos when you get it.

Well you're going to make all the "asscher ladies" jealous with that one!! Look at all those facets!! Very nice cutting.

WOW that's a big un - I love the colour play on the facets! What are your plans for it?

Beautiful - and HUGE! :appl:

I am still trying to decide on what setting I want. Once I get it in my hands it should be easier, once I see it's size. Any ideas?

I am pleased that he chose a JXR that isn’t too deep in tone to allow the step cut to show through. Can’t wait to see it too.

Unfortunately it takes 2-3 weeks from Australia to get here :-(

Gorgeous ammy!

VERY nice!!! Had been wondering how an asscher cut JXR would look, now I know :D If this one is like most of the ones I have seen, it will look even better in person...Tricky stuff to photograph one and get it to look exactly like what your eyes see...Looks like a top shelf cutting job as far as my un-trained eye can tell...Also enough rough for a 6x14 emerald AFTER cutting this one? Must have been a honker of a rough to start with....

That was what Doug told me: 2-3 weeks BUT I rec'd it in five days! Maybe that will be the case for you as well. Fingers crossed for you....

I found this great picture of a JXR amethyst that I wanted to post in the latest JXR thread. Look at that color. Looks to be taken in sunlight. This photo was taken by Michelle Matthews probably 6-7 years ago. I had not seen this photo until yesterday. Nice looking crystal. Your gemstone looks very nice. I don't recall really seeing many step cuts...
Well done!

Congratulations !!!!!

Man Doug can cut. How big is the final product? How big was the rough and where did it come from?

That is absolutely gorgeous!!!

Your stone is beautiful! And a great size too. I have an amethyst from Georgia but it's only 6mm.

It was a 32.56 ct rough that I got from Seriously Gemented on Ebay, he used to sell Jackson Croosroads rough but I haven't seen aynmore. Mine asscher came in at 10.5mm, 5.8 ct
I have recieved it the otehr day and it's AMAZING, will get some hand pics soon

Looks beautiful. Can you make a larger picture? Just want to see the color and the cut closer. Very interesting cut. Congratulations.

I'll try to take some better ones tonight, that was with my phone

I like how in the one photo you have the gem offset at a 45 degree angle. My wife's Christmas ring that I posted about was originally supposed to have a similar look, but my jeweler had told me that he didn't like how his CAD renderings were turning out with that idea. I hope if you are trying to get a mounted look where it is offset that it works out better for you than it did me as I still think it's an awesome look. Great gem you got there as well!
