I love princess cut diamonds, and my finacee picked out a lovely, simple and modern engagement ring with a 2 mm wide and 2 mm thick platinum band with a lovely low-profile setting. He purchased the ring in South Africa (where he''s from), but we went to Tiffany''s together to pick out my wedding band, and I got the 6 mm wide platinum band, which is also 2 mm thick, so it looks like it was made to go with my engagement ring. When I tried that band on with my e-ring, the saleslady said I am the first person on whom she has seen that particular wedding ring look good. The effect is a bit flashy with all tha platinum, but I''m a flashy kind of girl.

Diamond stats: 1.38 carats, I color, vvs1 clarity, princess cut.

Aww, shucks. Thanks to everyone for your wonderful compliments! It really makes me feel good. Maybe I''m a bit sensitive, but I haven''t gotten that many compliments on my e-ring. I get compliments every single day on everything else-- my hair, my clothes, my shoes, my vintage jewelry-- but not on my e-ring! Maybe it''s because my engagement ring is not as bold as the other jewelry I wear. A lot of women in my office have these huge rocks, so mine is mid-sized compared to theirs. My competitive nature comes out and I want mine to be the biggest!

I honestly wonder how they afford those big rocks, though.
