Hi guys, I hope you don''t mind me posting this, but I had to tell someone who would understand - oh and sorry in advance for the length of it

About 3 yrs ago my DH and I went thru a really rough time thanks to a close family member doing everything in their power to screw things up for us. This individual is now facing the consequences of his actions (when he stops lying to the authorities that he is to ill to attend the hearing), but because of what he did, we had to sell my jewellry so we at least had money for food and bills

.

Since then, we have been able to replace some of the things I sold - although not with exactly the same. You can see a couple of my rings in SMTR, and I got a replacement watch.

However, out of all the jewellry that had to go the one that caused me the greatest upset was a 18ct WG ring set with a pear shaped sapphire surrounded by diamonds. It wasn''t the best quality in terms of numbers - my three stone E VVS1 1ctw beat it hands down in that department - but it was the one ring that sang to me. It was a beautifully coloured sapphire - a rich vibrant blue that sparkled like crazy. The diamonds were 10 x 10 pointers, but two of them had a couple of cloudy areas on them - but even so there was fire and scintillation like nothing I have seen before or since. My DH bought me a sapphire and diamond oval cluster to replace it - but it just wasn''t the same.

We visited the jeweller we sold them to, but he had sold most of the pieces on. I gave up hope of ever seeing my pear again.

Anyway, we decided to go shopping out of town today - mainly to cheer me up because I found out on Friday that my father has had his hearing postponed YET AGAIN because he is still claiming he is ill

. I always look in second hand jewellry stores wherever we go, and today was no exception - even though on Thursday we ordered a five stone anniversary band from my jeweller, ready in two weeks

.

I looked in the window of one that I particularly love because of the fab collection of sapphire and diamonds they have (they are my absolute fave) and.....

My ring was in the window

. I couldn''t believe it!!! We went in and asked to see it - my heart was pounding so much. She got it out of the window and seemed to take an age bringing it over. She was talking about how beautiful the sapphire was and that they had not had this in stock very long - all I could think was stop talking and give me the ring!!

I knew as sson as I held it that it was mine - it felt right even tho it has been three years since I saw it. I put it on my finger immediately - of course it fitted and I have HUGE hUGE fingers - and refused to take it off! My darling, darling DH knew that there was not a single hope of getting me out of there without it and bought it

So here I sit at my computer, looking at the sparkles from my beautiful beautiful pear, and I can''t believe it!!

thank you for reading, and apols for the long long post

oh, btw I''m still getting my five stone band!!

Wow, what a story. I am so glad you have your ring back, that is lucky!!! You''ll have to post some pics in SMTR. Yay for you!!!

thankyou! I am on cloud nine and cannot quite believe this has happened. Wonder if I should by a Lotto ticket!

Where was this store?? Far away from where you live?? Was the woman shocked it was your ring you had to sell years ago??

The store is in York, about 40 mins from where I live and we often go there on a Sunday afternoon while our son is at my in-laws. The funny thing is, I was there just before Christmas while I was looking for an eternity/anniversary ring and I didn''t see it then. She was really surprised when it fitted my finger because it is such a BIG size - she''d already started on the ''oh we can size it for you without a problem'', but stopped when she saw how it fitted. I asked her how long she''d had it at the store and she said a couple of months or so - so I have no idea where its been. I also think she was surprised by how quickly my husband got his Switch card out and how little fuss he made! We actually ended up paying what we paid for it originally, but I don''t think either of us would have cared if it had been a little more!

What a sweet story and husband!

I am so happy for you!!!

What a wonderful ending! Congratulations!

What a great story. If only that ring could talk, huh! Sorry for the hard times you''ve had. Consider this the first in a long line of good karma coming to you!

Now we NEED to see pictures!

That is an amazing story. If ever a ring were meant to be yours, that one is it!

Hello! I''m so glad you were able to get your ring back. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is to cut yourself off from all of your relatives. (It turned out to be the best thing I ever did for myself.) Want some free advice? Get an unlisted telephone number and an answering machine and change all of your locks.

What an incredible heartwarming story! I am so happy for you

I am so so happy for you. Your story is amazing, thanks for sharing.

Wow, thanks for all your lovely words - i wasn''t expecting to have any replies! I just wanted to share my happiness with people who would understand.

Madam Bijoux - you are absolutely right. Sometimes you have to bite the bullet and realise that just because someone is related to you, you don''t have to have them in your life if they cause you distress. He has sent sms to my friends and colleagues accusing me of all kinds of things, and has basically done everything he can to try and destroy my reputation - all because I stood up to him after 35 years. its hard, but with the support of my DH and son - and all you fantastic people here! - I''m sure i''ll get through it. I just hoped I might have been able to draw a line under it by now

As soon as I can get my ruddy laptop to start talking to my camera again, I''ll post some photos!

thanks again everybody - you''re all the greatest

glitterkitty, your story has made my day, I''m delighted for you. Of all the jewelery that you sold, you''ve managed to get back the one that meant the most to you. How lucky is that? I''m amazed and absolutely thrilled for you. We definitely need to see pictures. CONGRATULATIONS and stay strong and accept the support of those closest to you and your PS friends. You''re a good person and don''t let your father get you down. We can choose friends, but unfortunately cannot choose family. Try and take it all in your stride. You have good people around you.

Oh I''m so happy you got your ring back!! Even though they are just posessions, they still mean so much to us. I can''t imagine the sense of loss you felt in having to sell all your lovely jewelry. Now you know that this ring was truly meant to be yours!! Congratulations that it found it''s way back home to you.
