This post has been a long time coming...several months, in fact! Back in the late Fall, I posted about a ring my husband was picking up for me in Chicago, from a dealer who sells on eBay and is physically located in the Chicago Diamond District. Although I had always had my heart set on a 2-3 carat European cut, something about the ring "spoke" to me. This, from a person who has never cared much for marquise diamonds (probably because of all the over-the-top creations of the 1980s). Although the photos that were posted on eBay were rather dead looking, my husband''s cousin (who was with him on the Chicago trip and is an interesting combination of attorney and GIA graduate) said that in person, the stone was nothing like thta in person. And he was right.
The size of the center stone, which is set in platinum and is flanked by two small perpendicularly set marquises, is 2.14 carats.

I have taken new photos of my ring, finally, but unfortunately my camera lacks a macro feature and my hands are far from steady. So here goes...
