Hi all!
We're so excited to show off our new ring designed and made my Maytal Hannah!
We have been looking for a ring for the past year and a half, but we couldn't find anything we liked for more than a week
. We went through phases of trying to find an in person jeweler during COVID, as well as visiting the online retailers (like JA), but we were nervous that what we picked out wouldn't look as good in person. After lots of searching, we finally stumbled on some posts about Maytal on pricescope, and as soon as we saw the reviews and checked out her rings on her insta + website, we knew we wanted to work with her. Maytal's rings are hand-forged, meaning that they are less porous than the CAD-rendered poured mold rings and made us feel like we were going to get something that actually lasted instead of a ring from somewhere that was just churning them out quickly.
Over our long COVID online searching adventure, we looked at lots of close-up images of diamonds online and were excited to be part of that process. Maytal helped us look at several diamond options, and we mailed the selection directly to her. Maytal has experience working at GIA, so it was helpful to have an expert opinion on the qualities that mattered.
From there, we had several back and forth emails and phone calls to discuss ideas for the ring design. We were really excited about a cushion shaped halo around a round diamond and something that originally excited us about Maytal's work is how much attention she pays to making sure there isn't an airline around the diamond (this was our original reason for seeking out a custom ring), and making sure everything is proportional. We also wanted a custom, intricate basket for a unique side-view. We sent Maytal some photos for inspiration, and she helped design the basket and give suggestions about what would look best. She sketched everything out in the most beautiful drawing, that we got to keep!
Throughout the process, Maytal was very communicative and quick to respond to any questions we had, and willing to be flexible with times she could get on a phone call.
