Although my FI and I weren''t originally going to have attendants, I asked my sister to be my MOH. I am glad I decided to ask her to be in our wedding and now I''m waiting on my FI to choose a best man (potential issues there, but that''s another story).

Anyway, my sister is not a girly girl at all and I have no idea what type of dress to suggest. For her own wedding, she wore birks, flowy purple pants, and a white tank top.

She never, and I mean NEVER, wears dresses or skirts. I want her to be comfy and ultimately, I''d like to choose (or help her choose) something that she could potentially wear again. Actually, I doubt she would but I want to try. I know she''d be happy to wear whatever I want her to but still...

So, any ideas? I''m about to check out J Crew right now. Because my dress is detailed with lace, I was thinking that hers should be a solid color and less detailed or not detailed at all. I hope I''m on the right track.

Hmmmm, I''m thinking you should probably avoid strapless styles, from the sounds of it. Maybe you can find something in a lighter fabric like a chiffon that will have a more carefree feel to it compared to a stiff satin?

I agree with ladyciel about not choosing a strapless dress. If you could find a dress that she could wear a normal bra with, that would probably be ideal. Separates might even be a good option. She might not ever use the skirt again, but she may reuse the top.

I think I would suggest a black or neutral colored cocktail type dress. Since she''s not a dress wearer, those are the most versatile kinds and would be something she could pull out of her closet in a pinch.

I agree - more chiffon like, and definitely a regular bra!

Is this a situation where you can just let her choose something? Or do you want it to fit a colour scheme? Maybe go shopping together and see if something strikes you both.

Also, is there any reason she can''t wear pants? Maybe try to find some elegant and interesting dress pants if she''s more comfy that way.

Thanks for the suggestions. I went to the beach today and just got home. I love the Ann Taylor dresses and I''ll forward them to my sister. I personally don''t care either way what type of outfit she wears, as long as it''s appropriate and coordinates somewhat with my dress. Birks are not allowed! Our mom though, may have stronger opinions. I''ve mentioned this is other threads, but just in case you don''t know, our wedding is in July (with an outdoor ceremony), so I don''t want something too stifling. Lightweight would be great. I''ll keep looking and forwarding suggestions to my sis.

Thanks everyone!

I forgot to mention that my sister probably would choose to stay away from a strapless or maybe even a spaghetti strap dress. I think she has broad shoulders which she''s self-conscious about, so a short sleeved dress may be a good option.

Since you have champagne accents in your dress, something like this might be cute! And, it''s inexpensive ($49.99):

Have you looked at Thread? They are a bit pricey, but sound like they'd be perfect for her. http://www.threaddesign.com/ They have some great seersucker ones, depending on how formal your wedding is going to be.

But I have to say that there are some great ones on final clearance at J Crew right now. I got my sister one from there, because she sounds like she has a similar style to your sister.
