My mom was told this was an Old Mine, looks like European to me if anyone wants to chime in

This is a diamond from my great grandfather’s ring. She was told it was an Old Mine. I think the center facets look like European cut flower petals. What do you guys think? Thanks

You're right, you've got an OEC there! The round outline would be indicative of an old European instead of the more cushion/square shape of an old mine. The kozibe effect is always a fun trick to capture in pictures.

Can you show us a farther away pic of the ring when you get a chance? It looks like it’s some kind of signet ring with a big ol’ OEC on top of the initial?!? Looks so cool! How old is the ring??

You have been given good information here. The old mine cuts followed the original outline of the diamond rather than being bruted into a round shape.
