Took the Thanksgiving opportunity to take some photos of my mothers rings.

Tiffany Etoile.
1/2 eternity
6 ct Amethyst (another grandfather stone from South Africa)
Yellow stone, possibly Tourmaline?

Then a photo of my dads ring with mom''s set.

emailing Andrey...

Wow. How fascinating to see your family''s bling, eh? Today after the 30 pound turkey and mounds of potatoes my cousin and I sat down with jewelry cleaner and scrubbed clean everyone''s wedding jewelry and diamond studs in the house! It was quite random but I always give my cousin crap for wearing her jewels so dirty! (sacriledge!

) Anyway, I took the opportunity during this to closely examine the loot. Lots of yellow gold, a few graduated marquise 7-stone rings, sapphires and diamonds, several round diamond studs, three-stone rings...it was fascinating! And strangely enough, it made me realize that even with all the "shrinkage" I''ve experienced while indulging my addiction to this site, my jewelry still stacks up well against the significantly more successful women in my family. Kinda put a perspective on it all.

But I still wished I had my camera so I could photograph that impressive pile of bling!

Sorry for the weird story. Your post just reminded me of it.

YEA! Thanks Andrey!

Enjoy, my PS buddies! It may not be impressive but they all have significant family value.

Dads ring- This was his Great Grandfathers, the man who was the Captain of the Oceanic (Titanics Sister ship)

Amethyst and Yellow Stone- Both stone like my Citrine, brought back from South Africa during WWII tour by my grandfather

Etoile- My mother never had a diamond ring as my parent had no money when they got married (the banker let them 10 pounds to get their first mortgage haha). Dad bought it on their 30 wedding anniversary at the Tiffany in Hawaii.

Anyway, all items are very cherished.

p.s- mom has serveral tiffany pieces but I wanted to focus on the items with history.

My FSIL has a 5ct pear 3 stone e-ring (I am guessing the side pears are 1.5 ct each) that is AMAZING RIDICOLOUS STUNNING, but I am too scared to ask her to take a photo...I don''t want her to think I am crazy, it is totally drool worthy!

here is the link to the citrine mentioned above citrine

It''s all beautiful, but I ADORE the broad gold band in the last shot - what''s the history for that one?

It''s my dads ring, It was his grandfathers, my great grandfathers (sorry for the typo above). It has an inscription inside that says "to Nelly my love 1902".

It NEVER comes of dads finger and he has worn it since his twenties and then changed hangs for his wedding ring...i had to pry it off him today and he eagle eye''d me taking photos lol. I love it

All of them are beautiful, but I just adore your mom''s wedding set. The Etoile is one of my favorite settings.

I can''t beleive how similar your mom''s set is to my own!

Had to include a pic, so that you can see. Until now, I haven''t seen such a similar set anywhere.

Some very pretty rings there.

I love your set Salty Muffin...classy@!

Your dad''s heirloom is beautiful, and I love the story behind it - thanks for sharing it! I''m coming to realize, as much as I love the specifically focused SMTR threads, my favorites are the ones like these, where people display their and their families collections - the context is fascinating!

Beautiful collection!

It's a small world iwannaprettyone. I live quite near to where the Oceanic was sunk and actually have a bangle made from copper from the boilers (I think it was boilers) (sorry don't have a scanner). The bangle is a flat cuff style with a pattern of the white star flag around it. I bought this about 20 plus years ago when divers were retrieving parts of her and a local jewellers made some pendants, bangles etc. Sadly I don't think they have any for sale anymore. Here is a link about the ship which you or your family may be interested in.

The Shetland Museum has photos of parts of ship etc. at the old museum the propellor of the ship used to stand as a statue outside the building. There is also photo of two of crew who were Shetlanders.

Iwannaprettyone If you want Andrey to erase that link then that is okay by me.

Nice collection, and the history of family jewelry makes it all that much more interesting!
