So with Covid and all the hand sanitizing, rings have been a challenge. I'm finding myself wearing more necklaces and definitely bangles. I've got just about every wearable Jade bangle that I want and only had a tiny strand of beads so I decided it was time to grab another strand.

These are bean quality but they are obviously green and fresh looking. I can't stand wishy washy Jade that's not green so this was the best I could do in terms of color. They are 9.8mm beads! There was a greener strand that I passed on at 6.6mm. I needed the size!!!

I love them!!!! A bit nervous about the string though. Anyone know how tough these strings are? I have visions of my green beads spilling to the ground.

They're so pretty! I love the vibrant green.

Wanted to speak up that with my jade beads (from Kathy Jade) they were on a sturdy thick nylon thread. However, they were unknotted and I had similar concerns. Over about 6 months of occasional wear, the nylon stretched significantly- leaving about 1.5cm loose thread visible. It never looked frayed and may not have broken, but was worrying. The nylon seemed strong, just stretched out.

Because of the stretching I took them apart and restrung them with some pearls and other jade. I still don't have them knotted because the holes are large, but have considered re-doing again on a thick silk to allow for it. Don't want to lose those beads.

@MissSarah thank you for info about the stretching nylon!!!! Was it that green color thread?

Thanks @icy_jade! I'll look into it!!!

@MissSarah thank you!!! Bless you and your hoarding!!!! That gives me a really good idea. I'm going to check my rope tomorrow.

I tried to restring beads once (my little fresh green necklace), it was a nightmare.

Lol they spilt to the floor and I was on my hands and knees trying to pick them up. Thank goodness they weren't graduating in size!

Oh. They’re gorgeous. Really beautiful. They look like little moss balls glistening on an early spring morning, like they always have on postcards and in stories about fairies ::)

I hope you can sort out a restring soon! I’d be worried too, I always like knots between my pearls!

We had our black nephrite jadeite bead necklace restrung. Took it to a higher end specialty pearl shop in LA and they did it for a surprisingly low price. IIRC it was about $30.

Ohhhh, get @katbran to string for you. She is in Australia and deals with pearls.

Then it is all done up nicely for a small fee.

Both my necklaces use extra strong silk. I just checked the lavender one (that one arrived with knots already and it is here with me).

Wriston uses silk too.

Yes! If I was in Australia I would ask @katbran! Her work on Insta looks really clean and precise and she’s a PSer so she “gets” us!

In the US I would ask Pattye (PatriciaSaabDesigns on Etsy). She strung one of my bracelets and it’s a flawless job!

Omg thanks @yssie and @ChaiK

Do you know what state in Australia she's in?

ETA: I just checked! South Australia!

How did I miss your posts I check PS several times a day! Gorgeous necklace @mellowyellowgirl and I think it will match several of your bangles nicely. :kiss2:

Heavy beads and pearls can stretch over time. Since you are considering a DIY try Pattye's Polyester beading thread , the thickest she has ( and i know she has some new heavy weight thread. String your beads , double thread, loosely tie it off with lots of slack....without a clasp and just hang them from something for a week or so. This will eliminate some of the potential stretch. I've found this thread doesn't stretch much but who knows with heavy beads.

Also Australians should keep in mind Bernadette , Beaders Secret ETSY . She's in the Melbourne area and is a professional stringer.
