My new kunzite...

Here''s some pics of my new 2.3ct kunzite. Some are table to the front and some with the culet to the front.

FI has bought a few more bits for his camera including some tent thing for taking ''product'' pictures so had a play with my rock last night.

The white speckles are dust not inclusions, the stone is super-clean.

Colour is a really delicate pink.

Yes, I LOVE gemstones, but don''t really wear jewellery.

I''ve always wanted a box of beautiful stones, and this one is going into it.

Kunzite is a really pretty stone, it''s only a 6.5 to 7, so probably best for pendants/earrings.

The second photo shows the colour best, but none of them show the incredible sparkle that this stone has.

Isn''t Kunzite also prone to fading under UV lights?

Apparently it fades in strong sunlight.

It's such a delicate colour anyway it's probably best not to wear in the day-time. It's also known as 'Evening Stone' probably for that very reason.

I read somewhere that heating to 200 degrees Centigrade will restore the colour. I wonder if I buy a clear one and shove it in with the Sunday Roast if it would work?

wow, I''m the exact opposite. the more jewelry I have the happier than I am. mind you, it doesn''t all have to be expensive, just pretty.

so if you ever need someone to give your stones some fresh air, I''d be happy to strut them around in some jewelry...
