This is the very first piece of jewelry I've had made (from scratch, as it were) and so I wanted to share. I had a peridot cushion that fell out of the first ring DH (then boyfriend) gave me and was thinking of resetting it in to a pendant. For my birthday last year, he got me a little mahenge spinel marquise because he knew I had been slobbering over them and love pink (he's so sweet!). I don't have specs on it, but I think it came from Swala Gem Traders and it's about 5x8 so maybe around .75 ct (??). I debated several options for it but kind of liked the way it looked with the peridot and so decided to set the two in a pendant together.
I was on a major budget for this since I am in the middle of saving up for something expensive and so went for the "simple is best" approach for it. The pendant setting (after some chopping and changing) came from a local gem show we went to and the little dangle setting came from ebay. A local jewelers added the loop to connect the two parts and set the stones for me and I like the way it came out, casual, colorful and easy to wear. The yellow gold really brings out the pretty color of the peridot better than the white gold it was in before I love the contrast of the 2 colors together.
Fresh out of the box:
And...just before it fell off my hand and under the deck ....Luckily DH is a very relaxed guy and did not flip when this happened. A screwdriver to the deck board and 5 minutes later we were back in business..... (whew!)
