I bought this from Dana at Mastercutgems and I love it. I took lots of good pictures but for some reason I can't upload them right now. These are the only two I could get. I have been wanting a purple sapphire and he recommended this one to me and gave me a great deal too. He is an awesome vendor and I will definitely keep buying from him. I bought a spinel from him I love too. Just wanted to show you guys. I wish I could upload the really good pics. The sapphire looks like it has blue and pink and purple and it glows. I can't wait to set it!

Beautiful! :appl: :appl:

Very nice!

Gorgeous!!

I spent some time looking at that too -- beauty! Good for you!

Thanks!

I love this purple hue. Congrats on your new sapphire. :appl:

The lighter purple flashes coming out of that deeper colored body are really amazing! It's hard to look away from your pictures :D

very pretty!!!

Thanks everyone. I took some really cool pictures where it shows blue, purple and pink going through the middle but am not using my tablet and couldn't figure out how to do it. I really love gemstones that have more than one color and this one looks to me to definitely have more than just one color. I knew immediately when I opened the box I had to keep it.

Very pretty.

What a beautiful purple!!!

Hi everyone! Just wanted to share pictures of the purple sapphire I bought from Mastercutgems and recently got set. I had it set in 14k white gold. It's not my dream setting for it but will have to save up for something else later on. It is 1.44 carats and is unheated and from Sri Lanka. I am in love with it because it has different colors coming through it, like pinks and blues.

This is what it looks like at it's worst and in bad lighting. I still think it's pretty at it's worst though.

Wow, that is like every shade of purple/violet/red and blue combination. Great saturation. Just lovely!

What a lovely purple!

+1 Couldn't have said it better.

That should keep you endlessly fascinated for a very looooong time.

Thanks guys! Yeah it does keep me interested to see what colors I will see in different lighting. The jeweler who set it, called it a pink sapphire. It looked more pink than usual in his shop. My favorite is what you see when it's outside.

I love that stone! Congratulations! What a great feeling to know it is a keeper right when you open the box!

Thanks ilovegemstones! I love it too. Just wish I could afford a setting with diamonds right now, even though it is pretty on it's own. I try to imagine different settings for it. I really like Juliabjewelry's settings and will have to save up for something like that next. I really did love it the moment I opened the box and knew it was a keeper. :rodent: img_20140909_134626.jpg

Great color! How would you choose to set it if the sky was the limit?

Missed this before. Lovely, glowy sapphire. It'll be great even in a setting without diamonds.

Thanks Loverskites and Frekechild. I really like this Iris setting that Juliabjewelry custom makes,( the oval one) and I think the sapphire probably looks best in white gold. But if I don't end up getting this one, I think just a simple diamond halo would be pretty.

You have NO idea how difficult beautiful stunning purple sapphires are to find. I spent years looking for mine (almost a twin of yours). I bet it changes personality all the time doesn't it? Treasure it because it's almost irreplaceable.

Nice sapphire! I know that's not your dream setting, but that ring would go perfect with eternity band stackers. :naughty:

Thanks LD! Yeah there were a few purple sapphires I was thinking about buying before this one and I am so glad I didn't because I don't think they woud have compared to this one. It was pretty in the vendor's photos but nothing like it is in real life. I am really glad Dana recommended it to me. It does change personality and I like that it never blacks out. Sometimes in bad lighting, you can see a little extinction but it's not bad and only happens in a dark lit room. How did you set your purple sapphire?
Thanks LT! It is pretty alone and would be a good idea to stack it with eternity bands, I will have to find one. The 14k gold setting it's on cost $260. The jeweler that set it had more elaborate settings but they cost like a thousand dollars and that was not including the diamonds and I wasn't in love with any he had.

I am obsessed with photographing this ring! I am sorry if I am annoying anyone by posting too many pictures but I keep showing pictures to my family and they think I am nuts. Just wanted to show a couple pics I think are neat that I took today.
