My New Ring

After three settings later, I have finally settled on this!

(I''m sorry about the quality of the picture. I took it with my husband''s phone camera.)

The center stone is a .79 carat, IF, F-color, signature ideal cut diamond from Blue Nile. The setting has two halos and two pear shaped diamonds flanking the center stone. There are also two rows of diamonds that go down the shank of the ring. I also included my wedding band in the picture. I have really small hands (I wear a size 3.5) and this ring is absolutely huge on me. I''ve tried out a 2-carat stone but I didn''t like it, so I returned it.

My hubby got me in the car and surprised me with a trip to Jared and told me that he was tired of me not wearing my engagement ring (I usually wore my sapphire anniversary ring). He made me go over the WHOLE selection of semi-mounts three times and that he didn''t care what he spent. He said that he didn''t want to reset the diamond ever again so I better get something good.

It was hard to pick a setting. I had to pick one with diamonds that were white enough to match the center stone''s F-grade. I also wanted scintillation because the center stone was ideally cut. We spent about four hours looking. It came down to a "Jennifer Anniston" spiral setting and this "LeVian-looking" setting.

I wanted a BOLD look, as opposed to the baguette and round side-stones I used to have (my old setting looked like my diamond sat on the hilt of a sword, with the gallery encrusted with pave-set diamonds). The spiral had bigger diamonds and the same carat weight, but it looked dainty. It didn''t sit flush with my wedding band. My hubby then made the observation that if the ring sat flush to the band, I could get the BOLD look I wanted. Good suggestion!

I picked the setting you see above and I am VERY HAPPY!
