Recently my husband and I had our 10th wedding anniversary. I decided I wanted a RHR. When we got engaged, we got my ring from a friend of a friend who was a jewelry appraiser. She contacted a few people she knew who were selling rings and I had 5 rings to choose from. I ended up with an oval that I love. However, I always wanted a round diamond and this time I wanted the experience of shopping for exactly what I wanted. When I started shopping I just knew that I wanted an eye clean, ideal cut hearts and arrows. I used to work with a woman who had a hearts of fire and that thing was gorgeous. I also loved the idea of having hearts and arrows in my stone as this was for our anniversary. My first stop was Robbins Brothers to look at settings. I really did not like how they pair you up with a sales person when you walk in the door. The salesman did try to sell me a stone and he almost had me until he started trying too hard. He told me that hearts and arrows were out of style and that you could not even see the hearts or arrows with the naked eye unless the stone was huge (I did know that once the stone is mounted that the hearts can't be seen). He ended up showing me a .90 SI1 I colored GIA triple ex for $6,000 and it was gorgeous. I was a little skeptical because he would not let me see the GIA certificate so I only had his word that that those were the specs. I left Robbins Brothers, got online, found Pricescope and within days I had contacted both GOG and Whiteflash with what I wanted and my budget. Matt at GOG was amazing to work with. He answered all my questions and was prompt at calling back and emailing. At WF I worked with Sheerah, also fantastic and she worked really hard to get me the setting I wanted as they did not carry the design that I wanted. I ended up with an ACA .95 VS2 J that sparkles like mad. It faces up white even in sunlight. Occassionally I see a little yellow tint in certain lighting but even from the side it looks white to me. I had the stone set in a Danhov setting (the melee on this setting is amazing) and when I received the completed ring I ended up pairing it with a ring I was using as a stacker and now my original engagement ring is now my right hand ring. Also, the Robbins Brother salesman is wrong, I can absolutely see arrows in this stone. The Danhov setting is delicate but I don't wear jewelry to work so I'm confident it will hold up well. I tried so hard to get pics that show how much sparkle this ring has.
