Why is it that I can NOT find a patent leather peep toe that doesn''t rub and cut into my toe?!

Does it help to have the cut out further back from the tip of the toe? A bigger opening? Not patent leather? Does it need to stretch out? Does a shoe dr. need to perform some cosmetic surgery or what???

The Aerosoles I got are very comfy EXCEPT for where it hits the cuticle of my big toe... it hits right below the nail and cuts my skin! I really wanted some black patent peeps (either a kitten heel or wedge because of knee pain).

I tried on several other brands (both cheaper and more expensive) and these felt the most comfortable.

Does anyone else have trouble finding comfy peep toes (especially in patent leather)?

I also have these Chinese Laundry that I got specifically to go with a cute beige, brown and patent leather purse. I''ve tried others as well but returned them. The Aerosoles and CL are they only two I held out hope for.

What do y'all think of these instead? They are Jessica Simpson (which I love- all the other styles I have are very comfy! though so are my other Aerosoles so whatev). They come in white and black (too bad the white doesn't have brown/beige accents, though). Does it appear they would give me the same problem?

ETA: duh... just realized I should have posted this in shopping.

Sera,

The JS shoes look as though they might not hurt you as much just because there is a little more "peep" space for your toes ... Are you going to give them a try? They are cute.

Hey Sera, I agree with Spark on the JS ones. Have you tried putting a clear bandaid around your big toe finishing just about the nail? You shouldn't be able to see it and it might just give you a bit of extra protection.

I hear ya! I bought a red patent leather pair and can't wear them if I'm going to be walking much because they pinch my toes like crazy! Forget 'peep toe', they are 'pinch toes!' LOL.

Mine don''t bother me after I have worn them in. Maybe you just need to wear them a little more and let them conform to your feet.

I wore the Aerosoles and the CL to work and HAD to use a band-aid... it didn''t help much because it kept getting moved out of place. The shoes are not too tight; it''s just the rubbing/movement that happens when walking. I don''t do much walking at work- they began hurting at the beginning of the day anyway. I start my interpreting job this month, but I should be sitting most of the time... not sure I would chance wearing the Aerosoles (as for the CL, they wouldn''t be worn as we wear black to interpret).

Maybe the shoe doc can do something that breaking them would do without having to break them in... cuz they really hurt.

I do like the JS... both in white and black, but the ones I have are exactly what I wanted (except for the pain!). The Aerosoles could still be returned but the CL can''t; if I have to, I''ll return the Aerosoles, donate the CL and buy the two JS. I was thinking the same about the JS being better because they wouldn''t hit in the wrong spot (I think) and being flat I could wiggle my feet around a bit to relieve any pressure.

I really HATE buying shoes that end up being uncomfortable

The JS ones look, by dint of the further-back exposure of the toes, as if they would be less likely to aggravate the cuticle area of your big toe.

BTW, though peep-toe shoes are notorious for doing exactly what you describe, I''ve had pretty good luck by putting in an insert near the ball area of the insole that "grabs" the foot and helps keep the foot held in the rear portion of the shoe. I get them at my local shoe repair, but they''re remarkably similar to these:

Definitely worth a shot!

WHAT!???? You didn''t know these adorable shoes were going to be PAINFUL? Bandaids, bandaids, and more bandaids, honey. I deal with a similar thing every spring...it''s called "getting to know your spring/summer shoes again." Seriously...slap a bandaid on each big toe and there you are. Sorry to be blunt, but honestly, there is no perfect shoe, and patent leather is not forgiving...but they''re cute!

You''ll be fine once your tootsies have grown callouses across the big toe area. I promise.

OK... I THINK I may have found something to help! I just got home from DSW and bought Strappies by Apara... they are gel liners for strappy shoes, but I thought they may work along the peep edge. I have one of each shoe on... now to walk around in them. I will also try them later on a strap that kills my heel. I'll let you know how they work in case others need a similar solution.

I was thinking maybe a gel insert for the ball of the foot would work, too. Since I found the Strappies, I will try those first.

I really did try Band-Aids... it just wasn't working.

I did try a kitten heel patent peep toe (the heel was silver, kinda cute) by Nine West. So, if this doesn't work and the JS doesn't work, I have a third option. But from now on, no medium size peeps! Tiny peek-a-boo one toe peeps are ok, or further back like the JS, but not in between.
