My photog... Check her out Philly area folks! (NJ, NY, PA)

Re: My photog... Check her out Philly area folks! (NJ, NY, P

Not bad. She should try to pay a bit more attention to details, as in what is in the background of the shots as many of them were a bit busy and some had distractions in the foreground as well. Both big no nos. ;) But overall looks like she can do a decent job, especially her B&W shots which I found the best of the bunch!

Congrats on your upcoming marriage!!!

I'm not Trillionaire, but if I were I'd be pretty offended by your comments. She wasn't asking for input or advice on the photographer that she had already booked for her wedding. She just was sharing the information for brides in the area.

Additionally, this woman has a very candid style. Not all wedding photographs are going to be posed and picture-perfect. They are real life and are going to show it as such, rather than picking and choosing every. single. detail out. When photographers do that too much the whole selection of photos will look soooooooooo contrived. Which, I'm guessing by selecting this photographer Trill as not aiming for.

Trill- I think shes very talented and that you will have some gorgeous wedding photos. I hope you two enjoyed your day! I thought about you last week. At least the weather was great!

Trill, I think her galleries look amazing! So nice to see relaxed brides and grooms captured doing their thing, and all the better that it can be captured for a reasonable price :appl:

Clair,
Calm down already. No offense was made. She said check her out, I did, gave my 25yrs+ experience in photography, opinion on the samples I saw. I am fully aware of all the techniques and styles, but there are still certain "rules" in photography, especially portraiture that should not be broken, and having extremely busy backgrounds are always a massive no no as they distract from the intended subject of the shot as do weeds sticking right in the front of the frame/pic about 1/4 way into the shot. These have nothing to do with making shots natural, they are errors.

If the OP likes her that is all that matters. But she did ask folks to "check her out" and that is what I did and reported what I saw from an experienced shooters point of view for anyone possibly considering her as well. It is called being informative. Just because you did NOT like my opinions does NOT give you the right to start jumping on my case about it, thank you kindly. Don't like my opinions, then you do not have to read them. Good Day.

I don't think the OP was asking for opinions by saying "check my photographer out". I think she was simply giving us ladies who are in the area a heads up for a photographer she enjoyed using for her pictures. Just a thought.

Autumn, that may have been. I took it the other way. *shrugs*

Regardless though, it was in no way whatsoever meant to be offensive in the slightest. I just used to shoot weddings for many years, what got me started into photography actually. I shot all styles from the typical posed stuff to the PJ style many do today back before it was "trendy". I also spent many years critiquing competitions and the like, so I tend to "critique" any type of photography even today, just one of those things drilled in over the years, lol.

No worries, I was just offering another perspective :)

Hmm... Clairitek seemed pretty calm to me.

And unfortunately, we do have to read your opinions since we don't know what they are until we've read them. I doubt any of us has a psychic ability that enables to know which posters happen to have opinions that we don't like. If we did have that ability then you could have also utilized it to ignore Claire's comment. Genius!!

Trill said to check her out because she was excited about her wedding photographer that she'd already booked. She was not asking for opinions on someone who she was considering. I'm glad she didn't post about her engagement ring for you to "check out"

Good for you that you used to be/are currently a photographer. I'm sure (and I am not being sarcastic here) that you are capable of giving great insight on technique and style of photographer. I get that critiquing something you know so well is hard to turn off. However, my comment still stands. She had ALREADY SELECTED this photographer. She WAS NOT asking for advice about whether or not she should hire the photographer. Saying "Check her out!" is not the same as "Critique her!" I was just putting myself into her shoes for a moment and thinking about how annoyed/hurt I would be if I had posted happily about my wedding photographer only to come back and find someone telling me about all of their faults. I actually solicited advice on photographers before I got married and was not at all put off at the feedback I received and had you been around then (I'm guessing you weren't since you only have 62 posts to your name as I write this) I would have gladly accepted your professional opinion and insight. The difference being that when I asked for advice I hadn't yet selected any of the people I mentioned to shoot my wedding. You are certainly entitled to have an opinion but I was just pointing out that perhaps it wasn't quite the right time to dispense it.

...if you honestly can't tell that the shot with "weeds" (which, btw, are NOT weeds) in the edge of the shot is supposed to give the viewer the feeling that they are peeking around them at a private moment with the B&G, then your opinion is moot.

Not to mention that if you are a real photographer, then you know that weddings are on the fly, super fast and you can't stop to move them to some place less "busy," especially if it is the location THE PAYING B&G CHOSE.

And this photographer thinks she did well, so good choice, Trill!
