Every year for the holidays my extended family asks for a list of possible things that FI and I would like. This year, I honestly told them, we would really appreciate money or gift cards because all of our extra money has gone into the wedding (we haven''t been out to eat or to a movie in ages!) but I also added that if they insist on getting us something, we honestly can''t think of anything other than what is on our registry. Well, sneaky me, I checked my registry religiously after I knew my family went shopping to see if they did actually get us anything. Nothing was updated, so I figured we were in for a lot of gift cards.

Yesterday my brother called to say that he needed gift ideas for us because all our other relatives were being sneaky. Apparently, they all got us stuff off our registry, but refused to update the registry so that it would still be a surprise!!! This made me crack up so hard because my family obviously knew I would be scoping out the registry every day to see if they bought anything. Of course, now I''ll have to go through and update it after the holidays, but that shouldn''t be too bad, it''s not like anyone else is buying wedding gifts for us yet! I know it sounds silly, but I''m SO excited to actually get some of the stuff on our registry. And I guess we''re lucky because we aren''t one of those couples who struggled to find stuff they wanted to register for. Did anyone else get excited to see their first registry items being purchased???

Awww, it''s really cute that your family knows you that well and is trying to throw you off the scent! My mom kept buying us stuff off our registries for birthdays and Christmas (we were engaged for over a year) but she wasn''t at all subtle about it! In fact, I think our registries are still viewable so I''m betting she''ll be getting us things for Christmas that were never purchased.

how sweet of your relatives!! And practical :)
they already know it''s stuff you want, so I think that is perfect!

I was always excited to see stuff go off the registry. It''s not like you are ''really'' spoiling the surprise, you''ve picked out the goods already....lol

enjoy your new stuff and be glad for thoughtful relatives!

haha i will def be snooping!!

That''s great Sabine! I just added stuff to one of our registries and while I was doing that, I checked to see if by any chance something had been purchased. I noticed that a floor lamp we requested has been bought, and when I visited my mom yesterday I noticed two boxes -- one tall box and one big square box. Perfect size for a lamp and a shade. I asked my mom about it, hoping to get some information from her and she said that she was holding onto them for a neighbor.

We struggled at first to put things on a resgistry but once we got going it was kind of fun. I''m having more fun updating and adding things online though than I did in the store itself. I''m glad we began in the store so we could see things in person. After that initial visit though, it''s way easier and fun to do it from home.

We just got our first couple registry purchases this week, and I was so excited! They''re all for little things, but I''m happy that the gifts are starting so early!

I love that you can see what people bought you-- I hate waiting to be surprised!
