So last night I went with one of my engaged friends to the St. Pucchi flagship store, which is conveniently located just steps from my office. Wow. Simply amazing. What a difference between my Davids Bridal experience and couture! Thank god I didn''t come here when I was shopping for gowns or would have HAD to up the budget on the dress. I only tried on one dress--which my friend convinced the saleswoman to let me try on, she''s so conniving!--and it just blew me away. Granted, it wasn''t worth the $6,900 pricetag, but it really was amazing! Oh, in another life maybe I''ll marry a billionaire and I can have a Milania Trump wedding! **sigh**

Lucky! I;m so afraid of being "outed" as poor! Where is the store here? Bev. Hills?

Westwood??

Yup, like the 900 block of Westwood Blvd.

Yah, Amber, me too! That''s why I never went in there, I would just stand and window gawk. The saleswoman asked which dress I got and I very enthusiastically said "Davids Bridal" and she kind of looked disappointed and said "Oh well that will do the job."

I know what you mean. The first dress I ever tried on was a St. Pucci, and in the end I wound up getting it. The fabrics are so rich and beautiful, and the quality of workmanship too. (Unfortunately my seamstress "undid" some of that quality in her alterations... alas..) Luckily mine was years old and discontinued, so it was way cheaper than a new one, but I know what you mean about if you''d seen them first you''d want to up the budget! Here''s what I posted about it on the "how much did you pay for your dress" thread:

My dress was originally $1800, but when I first saw it it was reduced to $1000. That was still more than I wanted to pay. I wound up coming back months later (it was the first dress I tried on, and I loved it), and it was reduced to $500. I offered $300 and got it. It was all silk, and I remember a lady at a fabric shop said, "You couldn''t buy the material for $300!" It was reduced because it had been in the store for ages, and was so totally different from any dresses that are out there now (or then) - very unique.

Maybe I''ll throw that St. Pucchi store into the works. Are there a bunch of dress shops along Westwood, or does it just seem that way? I''m going to have to go dress shopping alone for a bit, my male friends won''t do it, and I don''t have any close female friends. Kinda depressing, actually. What sucks even more is all my male friends are straight, and couldn''t care less! My family doesn''t really live around here much, just my mom and dad, but my mom works a lot. I guess I should just start looking!

Selflove, I can''t believe the saleslady was so condescending about your David''s Dress! Sorry honey, living in L.A. takes most of the money for a dress!
