Thanks for the kind responses!

Van and I are very excited about our engagement, and now that the ring is done, we have a lot of wedding planning to do!

A quick run-down of the stats:

Center stone: Fancy yellow, radient cut, 3.0 cts
Side stones: 2 trapezoid cut, E-color diamonds total 1.5 cts
Shank: 8 round, channel-set, 5-point size diamonds

Also, here''s one last close-up of the ring...

It''s beautiful!!! Can we get a side and bottom view possibly? I''m curious to see how the yellow basket looks from other angles.

Did he buy it from DBL?? It''s just lovely!!!

We did look at Diamonds by Lauren and while we loved their rings, we were just too nervous about buying online (this is a first big purchase for both of us). I really liked the DBL people though, so we''ll probably look to them when an anniversary rolls around and we''re in hot pursuit of some matching yellow diamond earrings.

We found a setting we loved at C.D. Peacock, here in Chicago. While it was the right setting, it just wasn''t the right price and the side stones weren''t the size we wanted. So, we had my ring made by our jeweler (Stanton Harris) who had also found the center yellow stone. They did a wonderful job and were very well priced.

Well they certainly did a great job!!! The yellow is just yummy!!

Here is a view from the side. The digital camera and my photo skills don''t do it justice, but you can get the idea here of how the yellow gold enhances the yellow diamond without looking out of place on the platiunum ring.

WOW... that is beautiful!! Congratulations!!!!

Is there any chance of you putting that ring out on a loan? It''s spectacular!!! I originally looked at yellow diamonds (one of my FAVORITE colors) but decided I''m too anal about matching my jewelry with my clothing so a white diamond it had to be. But, seeing your ring makes me wish I too owned a yellow diamond--they''re just so gorgeous!!!

what a beautiful ring...I just love the color of the center stone.

gorgeous... I definitely aspire to have a yellow diamond someday. congrats to you and your new fiance!

KateV,

Wowwy, dynamite ring.
You should definitely put it in the SMTR folder.
I'm sure all the other gals would love to have a chance to drool over it.

This ring deserves its own professional photography session and all the accolades this forum does

What a beauty! Congratulations for the find.

Btw. It looks pretty large on your hand, even for 3 cts. Is the ring size small or the diamond indeed quite a bit larger than most 3 cts radiants?

My ring size is a 5 1/2. I don''t know if that''s considered small or not, but with the side stones and channel stones, its just all sparkels when looking down at my finger! This is my first diamond, so I am easily distracted by the sparkels!

The center is an exact 3 cts, however it is much wider than it is deep. They tell me this is an ideal cut for a yellow diamond, but either way I love it b/c the ring sits fairly low on my finger, making it much more practical for everyday wear.

WOWZZZA Spectacular! I love the yellow/white combo -- one of my best friends has a similar (smaller) ring and I bet it looks even more stunning in person - I know hers is a knockout! And so unique!

Congrats on a fab ring & your engagement!

that''s simply stunning.

Your ring is gorgeous! I never really gave yellow diamonds a second thought, but after seeing some on PS, I am changing my mind!

Congratulations on your engagement!
