Does anyone if there is anything written about whether the bride''s name or the groom''s name goes first on wedding related things, such as save the dates, invitations etc?

Thanks!

I would think it''s bride''s name first, but maybe it depends on culture, etc?

I''ve only ever seen it the bride first, especially on invites-

on std''s they are more informal so i don''t think there''s a set etiquette

The lady''s name always goes first on inviitations, as far as I know. I would assume it''s the same for STDs etc.

I just learned that the female''s name should always go first on invitations and monograms.

Sadly, I had loved the monogram made for me with my FI''s initial first, but that is apparently incorrect. so I had to do a simple one with mine first on the invitations.

I''m sure someone can let you know what Emily Post or other etiquette experts have to say on the subject.

haha this is so funny, FI and I were just arguing over whose initial should go first in a monogram!!

he says everyone always calls us "Dave and Kara" but I told him everything I see has the bride''s name first. I said "you open doors for me and always let me go first on everything else, now you want your name first?" haha he''s just teasing me though, he doesn''t really care a bit.

yay now I can send him this thread! we are getting some matchbooks made with our initials on them since we know that plenty of people coming to our wedding smoke (whether it''s cigarettes or cigars). I thought it would be cute to have little baskets outside with matches with our initials on them....and they have them on the wedding channel store for like $25/100!!

My calligrapher said that it''s always "ladies first" rule on everything...invites, thank you''s, monograms, etc.

Thanks so much! I thought it was always bride''s name first but I just wanted to make sure. I would be curious however to know what Emily Post has to say on this:)

I agree, ladies first.

I also have only ever seen the ladies name first on invites and what not, but I was kind of wondering how you would decide whos goes first in a monogram.. I know that for me, our names sound better together when it''s my name first. However, if it''s just our initials I like his first better, M&J. *shrug* I would think that for invites part of the reason that the brides name is usually listed first is because back when the brides parents were paying, their names went first on the invite Mr & Mrs Smith invite you to the wedding of their daughter Mary Jane to Mr. John Doe, son of Mr & Mrs Doe. Because it makes sense that way doesn''t it? If the grooms parents were paying for the whole thing and thus doing the inviting, wouldn''t you need to put their names first and thus the grooms before the brides?

My mind just gets going and it won''t stop on things so sorry for rambling :)
