I’m torn between 2 yellow gold diamond necklaces. The diamond by the yard from Tiffany is 0.30 ct of diamonds and more classic and wearable. The fringe necklace is 1.50 ct of diamonds and is more striking and unique. Tiffany being Tiffany, the price is about the same despite the large carat discrepancy. My independent jeweler also has beautiful DBTY designs at a much better price, although I do like the idea of the Elsa Peretti original design. What would you do? Thanks so much for the input!IMG_3122.png

My opinion only:
I would buy the DBTY necklace first, from my local jeweler, because it is a very wearable design. The design is not unique, as you said your jeweler has beautiful ones that are less expensive, so I would not pay the premium for Tiffany. Then, I would put the cost savings from that toward getting the fringe necklace, which is more unique.

If you want the brand, you can often find the original Tiffany secondhand which would also free up some money. I think that the second necklace is super fun and not so out there that it isn't wearable so it would be my choice, but obviously you know your wardrobe and taste better!

I know you just bought a lovely tennis necklace…would you want to stack them? I’m not sure how long the second one is compared to your new necklace and if those could be worn together? I think the dbty necklace would likely have an extender(?) so could be worn w your new tennis necklace? I think it would be fun to have an option to stack. I also am not partial to brands so I’d either look for a Tiffany secondhand or look into my local jewelers options.

Thank you! An excellent and well thought-out plan:-) I appreciate it!

Thank you for the vote of confidence in the unique necklace! I hadn’t thought of going the Tiffany secondary market. An excellent and affordable option!

Glad to see another vote not to pay the Tiffany premium:-) I don’t have a knack for stacking unfortunately, and all 3 would be 18”. I’m sure it would look fabulous on someone with the artistic gift of knowing how to stack! Thanks for the great idea!

I would prefer the diamonds by the yard necklace but would not pay the Tiffany price. I would pay it for some things Tiffany, but for this particular necklace, too many can make it just as beautiful and you can pick the size of the diamonds.

Thanks so much for confirming what I suspected! I appreciate it (especially after all the help you gave me in the tennis necklace thread)!

Well, I can definitely rule out an 18-inch multi station DBTY. Didn’t like the look on me. Maybe a 20” and diamonds farther apart or even just 3 stations. I did visit the fringe necklace again:-)IMG_3132.pngIMG_3131.pngIMG_3130.png

The diamonds look too small in the dbty necklace - something just looks a bit off to me. However, we like what we like, and if the style doesn’t work for you, time to move on. You seem rather drawn to the last one pictured - does it feel like ‘you’? If so, you might have your answer!!

I agree about the DBTY. I do keep coming back to the other necklace. I might bring it home tomorrow! Trying it on at the shorter length showed me how versatile it is:-) Thanks for the encouragement!

Keep us posted!

I had a local jeweller make me a DBTY necklace from an old engagement ring. I only wore it a few times as it constantly flipped.

Oh I was going to say the finge necklace initially but when I saw the pictures I loved the look of the DBTY on you. What a pickle you’re in ;-).

Fringe is so unique! Would it migrate around your neck though? I hate having to readjust/ center an necklace.
