For my bridesmaids, my cousin made earrings for everyone, using dark and light amethyst briollettes (which cost me a fortune to supply her) and to prevent breakage of them we are keeping each individual earring in a mini ziploc baggie. Id like to present these in a little bit more pleasant way. My cousin will be on hand to repair anything we do to them at the wedding/photos, so Im not super worried about that, but they are delicate. So I have to be careful with how I present them.

I had thought about little chinese silk coin purses or something but thats just too simple...maybe...anyone got any better ideas?

I guess I should also mention they are getting small tote bag purses as well, filled with Shout Wipes and other things to prevent me from making myself a mess. I had planned to put these in the bag as well.

On a similar note to the chinese silk coin purses - what about the chinese coin boxes where you have to pinch the ends to open the box? They are covered in material and look beautiful as well. You would also be able to stuff it with tissue to keep the earrings in place, and then you could put the coin box in a cardboard gift box and wrap it.

ETA: Are these boxes what you meant by coin purses? I was thinking you meant silk bags.

For gift boxes, I like to take parchment paper boxes (I get them in packages of 8 from Hobby Lobby) and wrap the jewelry in a fabric square (you could use satin, a linen like fabric, or even tulle- which is WAY cheap and like a veil in their box and comes in colors) that coordinates with their dress color or the jewelry, write a sweet message on the bottom of the box in a metalic paint pen and tie the box up with an organza or satin ribbon that also matches. This is very inexpensive and looks nice and fancy. Plus it is personal with message from you.

Good luck.

Can you post a photo of these earrings? I love briollette-cut stones and am interested in seeing what these look like.

Thanks.

Soon as my cousin gives them all to me (hopefully this weekend, shes still gotta make my mom and his mom''s pairs, ran out of silver chain). I will post photos.

I did mean bags, FireGoddess. But I like the idea of those little squeezey coin things. I also like the idea of those boxes being made and hand written in/on.

I wanted them to be able to reuse the box or purse, but Im not opposed to something disposable. I just don''t want some huge presentation thing.

Thanks!

At Michaels you can get little "chinese take out" boxes, in all sorts of papers, laminate, etc. You could, if you had time, decorate them with something personal for each person, using stickers, pen, paint, or whatever. You could find some beautiful tissue paper at a party shop or Hallmarks, and use it to stuff each box, and then get cardstock in a color matching your wedding colors, and make the earring "holder" by cutting a square or rectangle and poking two little holes into it, to hold the earrings.

ame- i know you''ve already got them tote bags, but I''ve seen some gals on the knot post pics of asian/chinese silk style jewely rolls... very pretty. Earrings could be tucked into one of the pockets?! I imagine they could reuse these when they go traveling, or even just for storing their bling-age! Not sure how much they are though.

Otherwise, the small silk purses are fine, IMO!! Easy to keep track of, and small! I worry that the coin boxes might accidentally get pinched in a purse and your earrings might fall out?? I dunnos, maybe I''m being paranoid.

Good point. I think that if I get a big enough silk pouch I can put a little box holding the earrings in there. It will protect from smooshing.

Hm I still have 7 weeks to get this all situated so Im glad I started now!
