Hi all, I have fallen in love with a pair of earrings that unfortunately I cannot see in person before buying. The seller has a reasonable return policy so I'm not worried about that aspect, but I'm afraid if I pull the trigger than I won't send them back! So for peace of mind, can someone please opine on these? They are listed for 7k and the description is as follows:
"Each earrings contains just over 1 carat of chunky old mine cut diamonds, VS2 - SI2 range in clarity, I-J-K range on color".IMG_0350_1536x2048.jpeg

Are these antiques, or made in an antique style?

That price does seem high if I’m being honest.

But there are plenty of us who are willing to pay to get exactly what we want. It’s a unique design and they are very pretty.

You have to decide if that price is worth it to you.

Ahh yes you hit the nail on the head! I appreciate the feedback.

If you don’t get a lot of traction here, I’d move this to the antiques part of the forum!

That is super helpful, thank you again!

They are very pretty! I’d ask for lots of photos and video if you don’t have those already plus questions about whether they are eye clean, where the inclusions are etc. I think the price is high for uncertified stones.

Another vote for the price being high, but I’ve never seen a pair like them so if you pass how long to you find another? What a quandary. Do you have pics of the gallery and backs? Will the seller provide a pic of someone wearing them (I wonder how low below the earlobe they dangle)? What is the gold content? If you are sensitive to heavy earrings I’d ask about the weight, too. Are all the diamonds secure? If you have to get multiple prongs retipped that could get expensive.

Beautiful - can you get them to show you the back side?

Thank you both! I've written to the seller to ask about how secure they are (prongs and backs)- I worry about them being too delicate for everyday wear.

However, if she confirms they are in good shape and the stones are eye clean, I think I will go for them! It would be great of course if they were ~$1500 less expensive, but I agree with you @kgizo that I likely wouldn't find another like this.

They are lovely - they look like a pair of rings, gently refashioned into earrings.
The gold ball at the back of the ear wire is a clever touch, designed to prevent a forward slide due to being front-heavy, as it were. A thoughtful (probably contemporary) addition! Beautiful earrings.

Those are GORGEOUS! :kiss2:If you are comfortable with the price I would go for it; even if the price is on the higher end, these definitely seem like something you would regret passing on if they were purchased by someone else (and it doesn't hurt to see if there is any flexibility on the price!)

I was going to say the same thing, they look like they used to be rings! Interesting.

The last thing I will say, some of the prongs (it is a bit hard to say from pics) look very small and delicate. Luckily, these are earrings, and I imagine you won't be doing any extreme sports with them

Buuuuut I would have them checked by a jeweler to make sure the stones are snug if you do buy them.

Love the design and detail on the gallery. Very elegant and graceful.

I think they are lovely.

HI:

Very beautiful. But not inexpensive.

cheers--Sharon

I love the gold ball on the back too but it means the earrings will have to be inserted from the back of the piercing...which I think means they are original to the design. I thought about this because the forward slide has always been a problem for me with this kind of ear wire but the ball is not something that can normally be added later in quite the same way. All that aside, I think these are stunning and unique!

I think they're stunning, and unique, and I say go for it if they're within your budget because it's super easy for me to spend someone else's money!

I think you found something really beautiful and unique.
Now you know what we all want. Yes. Photos in the box, photos on the ear. I've never seen the equivalent of these, can't wait.

Yes for sure! I got them on Monday and am in LOVE. Will post photos this weekend after I've washed my hair:lol:

I am a bit worried about the front latch mechanism failing and losing one. Besides getting them checked regularly at my jeweler's, does anyone have an idea of how I could make them more secure??
