I am organizing a bachelorette party out in Boston in a few weeks. We want to find a fun restaurant with reasonable prices (thinking maybe $17-$20 an entree on average) for a group of 6-12. The bride has a fairly adventurous palatte but I am not sure about the rest of the girls so a place with something for everyone (for example, not all seafood or spicy) would be great.

Thanks for your help!

Are you only considering Boston, or are you open to surrounding areas like Newton (Chestnut Hill), Brighton, Brookline, etc?

I haven''t been to Boston for a long time, but there used to be a place outside of town called the no-name restaurant that had a very relaxed, happy atmosphere and the food was great. It had toy trains running around the ceiling. Has anyone ever been there? Is it still in business?

Yeah, where will folks be coming from and what are you doing after, if you give us a hood, it is easier to find good eats. Sounds like Bia and I are on opposite sides of town, I can help you with Cambridge and Boston but not so much Brookline, Newton. I just suggest after years of working at Fire and Ice to not go to any of their locations (they are frequently a group outing destination is the only reason I say this). There is a real difference between meat on ice and refrigerated meat.

Well, we are planning on going out for drinks and dessert at Top of the Hub so I would prefer to stay within walking distance of that place, which is on Boylston Street. I probably should have given that information right off the bat! Sorry!

Has anyone ever been to Finale? That might be another option for drinks/dessert.

ETA: Just noticed that Finale has several different locations and a good dessert drink list as well. So I can open up dinner options to places that are close to either the Park Plaza location or the Cambridge location.

Thanks for the recommendation on Fire and Ice. I hadn''t thought of it but I wouldn''t be surprised if someone in the group suggests it.

I know you said you wanted a little of everything, but have you ever been to Tapeo (Also in the Back Bay - Newbury St). It's Spanish (Tapas) and it's really good. Make a great sangria if you're into that.

Azure is good (on Boylston), and that's American/Fusion I think. Went once, it was really good.

Let me looks some stuff up and see what I find.

I think F&I is just Meh...It''s got a lot of variety, but reminds me of my college dining hall.

Finale is fantastic! YUMMO!!!! It''s probably on par price-wise with TOTH which is cool for the experience but has mediocre food.

If you''re looking for something really fun I suggest Dick''s Last Resort in Faneuil Hall. It''s in a different area of the city, but could totally work if you''re looking for bars/clubs to go to after dinner. It''s a great place for a batchelorette party but the servers are a bit crazy, so you need to have a fun group of girls.

If you''re looking for a place for dinner in Back Bay (where the Pru is) at those prices, then I suggest the Cheesecake Factory, California Pizza Kitchen, Parish Cafe, The Globe Bar and Grill or Solas.

Azure and Tapeo are also awesome, but Azure can be a little pricey

Faneuil Hall is an idea because there are tons of places you can just sort of stumble into, and in the summer they have tons of stuff to do outside (great pictures!), i.e. Comedy Club is there, if memory serves me correct.

And you''re right HH, Azure can be pricey--esp with drinks...that;s how they get me!

Azure''s food looks great but it is pricey. I just know that I am going to get resistance if I choose something that expensive.

I did find Tapeo as well! I put it down as a suggestion to the other girls. That could be a fun place.

Does anyone have experience with Vlora, Stephanie''s on Newbury, Ivy, or Stix?

Clairitek - run, don''t walk to Cuci Cuci! http://www.cuchicuchi.cc/

It''s in Cambridge, but it''s worth the cab/T ride. I''ve had many a girls'' night out there, including my bachelorette party. It''s fun, funky and unique.

I went to Vlora''s opening, but haven''t been since. The food is pretty good, and the prices are within your range. Atmosphere-wise Stephanie''s wouldn''t be my choice for a bachelorette party. I can''t comment on Ivy or Stix.

For fun, reasonable places for a bachelorette party in the Back Bay I would consider:
-Vox which is right in the Back Bay on Bolyston serves dinner and has really yummy martini''s, it also get pretty busy late night.
- I also like Bouchee (brasserie) which is on Newbury close to the Commons (they have a nice outdoor patio).
-33 Restaurant and Lounge has a fun atmosphere. I''ve had good and bad meals there.

In all honesty though, I would go to a restaurant in the South end (Gaslight, Beehive, Stella, Tremont 647, Metropolis, Union, Sibling Rivalry, Masa), which is a short walk from the Back Bay. There really isn''t a bad restaurant there, they tend to have a younger crowd, and they''re mostly reasonably priced.

Finale is perfection. I am biased since my gals took me there for part of my bachelorette party. To build up to the Boston garden one you could eat at Bonfire if price is no problem link Via Matta is great and varied Italian link it is more grown up than Maggianos, which of course is awesome if you are hungry. There is also PF Changs and the Rock Bottom Brewery (used to be Brew Moon) and of course Legal Seafood are all right there. They aren''t perhaps as...mmmm...uniquely special? But can accommodate your crowd if it ends up being more like 12 than 6 with ease. I was trying to think of restaurants close to Finale over on that side of the Garden, but Newbury wouldn''t be a bad walk.

In Cambridge there are so many choices ranging from casual, John Harvard (just thinking about the artichoke dip has me drooling). But that is prob too casual, my vote would be for Upstairs on the Square, it is just gorgeous upstairs. My girlfriends and I try to have high tea here every year, it is a bit spendy, but super special. For other ideas, here is a site that has all the restaurants listed link Casablanca is quiet and sophisticate, or Redline if you are up for watching the beautifully brainy crowd, it has a wide variety on the menu and cheaper than my other suggestions. Sandrines is just gorgeous, but a bit spendy and the French might not be everyone''s cup of tea.

hmm, can you tell I love food? Hope that helps!

Oh, I love Parish. Some of these places are awesome but in no way can they accommodate a crowd of 12 unless you can split up into different tables and that won't be much fun. Can you get a better idea about the numbers before you pick the place?

Sidebar: I just want to clarify in case it seemed like I was suggesting F&I. F&I is not a good choice for any meal unless you are OK with the effects of unrefrigerated meat that has been sitting out at room temperature for perhaps minutes, perhaps hours.

Thanks so much for the additional suggestions. I''ve put it out for a vote amongst the girls. Right now I like Via Matta, Tapeo, and Vlora quite a bit. We''ll see what they say! Feel free to give more suggestions. We don''t have to make a choice until a week or so out (from August 15th).

Finale is great! What about McCormick and Schmick''s? It''s billed as a seafood restaurant but I''ve found there to be a wide variety of food. Or how about Maggiano''s?

I think I''m in a Back Bay/Financial District/Beacon Hill slump because nothing is popping out at me right now. I''ve been on a North End kick lately, though. I love how Italian it feels in the summertime when everybody is out an about, the food is delicious and you can walk around and get yummy pastries at Mike''s after dinner. The only seafood I really like in the city is Union Oyster House, though if I really want seafood I just go to the North Shore...now this post just seems grumpy.
