So, I got engaged back in Oct. and I''m SO in love with my ring! It''s a 1 ct G SI1 rb halo in bead setting totaling 1.33 cts and I want to SHOW IT OFF! I''ve lurked on this site, but never posted

The reason I haven''t is twofold: one, I have the ugliest nails in the history of the world. I have very small, thin fingers (3.5), but the NAILS. I can''t wear acrylics (long story, for work) and I hate them anyway. I don''t bite, but the second they get any white tip, they just peel or split and I either chew that part or file them down to little unpeeling nubs. EW! I want people to admire my diamond, not go WTF?
Anyone have any advice on how to get stronger, longer nails?

My second problem is, my crappy digital won''t let me zoom on the diamond without being all blurry and white. Thoughts on how to get a couple of good pics?

Thanks so much for letting me vent

and any advice will be gratefully welcomed.

Ok, so what I did in this same situation is crop the picture down just so my nails were out of sight! That, or, go outside and put the ring on a delicate flower or leaf and snap away. Flower shots are great!

I'm a big fan of Sally Hansen's Maximum Growth polish ... it seems to help to keep the nails from splitting, and just having to put a new coat on every day or three keeps me from picking at them or being otherwise destructive. Now, if only someone could tell me how to keep from breaking them to bits every time I do any work with my hands ....

ETA: Also, check out this timely thread ... https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/nail-care.72484/

Two words (or names): SAlly Hansen. SHe has a several different kinds. Grow Nails Now, a polish... Strong Nails Now, an oil, and so many other strengthener polishes. My advice is though- If you are gonna do it... do it! Follow the directions, apply when needed/ directed and avoid picking biting etc as much as possible. I don''t bite mine or anything, I just needed some help keeping them strong so they wouldn''t break all the time and these worked for me! NOW... WHERE IS THAT RING???? SHOW!!

Sally Hanson Diamond Hard.

I had really brittle nails - they''re still not brilliant, but they look pretty good.

I found getting a professional mani was a good move to get the good nails started. Keep them square tipped as they break and split less. Then do your own nails every week - using nail strengthening products.

KEEP A NAIL FILE ON YOU AT ALL TIMES. I am terrible, if I break one I can''t leave it alone - I have to bite them even...

I like OPI''s nail envy. As for pics, just crop your hands so we can''t see the nails until you feel more comfortable, but we''d love to see pics of your ring..it''s sounds gorgeous...

Two words...Three words...or even four...

POST THE DARN PHOTOS!! We are after the bling not the mani! Honest. No stones will be hurled at you. Yeah, we will throw a couple of wise cracks...but with that new beauty you can handle it!

You know how eyes or facial features are often covered with a black bar to maintain privacy...well you can always black bar your nails...or shoot the fingers just outside the image. Hold on to a cup of coffee and hide em!! Really honey....show off that ring!

I think the MACRO mode is the most important thing...then lighting. If you are using indoor light..use the little light bulb option under white lighting. Outside using sunlight...use the full sun shape icon option. If your images are not as they appear in real time...it has to be the lighting setting. Shouldn''t be orange or yellow or brown. Just as it appears outside the camera.

Thank you SO much! I will post on the "brag" thread, but am heading to CVS tonight for Sally Hansen and a nail file before I do....maybe I''ll get a mani tommorrow, but the nail tech is gonna laugh at my nubs.

As for the camera, I will try all the suggestions. THANKS!
