Hi.
I am new here and needing help. I have a family stone that I am wanting to have reset into a 5 stone ring. It is a round 2.22 ct 8.45 - 8.40 X 5.09. It will be an engagement ring. My longtime boyfriend was given the stone.
I am needing help With proportions of the side stones and also needing to find someone who can help make or reset the stone. I was googling and found Yssies 5 stone ring and fell in love. I am in Arkansas but I don’t have to use someone local.

Thank you so much!
Mindy

Hi Mindy!

My five stone reset by Diamonds by Lauren was one of my favourite rings! Here’s my PS thread - https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-5-stone-8-prong-trellis-reset-by-dbl.170161/

And here’s DBL’s website, if you’d like to take a look at their general style. DBL’s owner David can certainly recommend proportions and find sidestones if you wanted, so definitely reach out to them if you decide you might like to work with them on your reset project ❤️

Hope this helps! ::)

Understandable! I would say chat with David by phone and see how the conversation goes. I had an easy time working with him, but every client/vendor relationship is different and it’s super super important to feel that you and your vendor are on the same page! At the time I had my ring made David was willing to work with outside stones but you’d need to ask him if this is still the case. He posts on PS as Rockdiamond btw.

When you call in (any vendor) about your project, some points I would recommend having handy:

1. Details about your centerstone (some you already have, some you may not know - fine! Share what you’ve got.)
- Shape
- Size
- Colour
- Clarity
Question to ask: Will they work with outside stones? Some vendors will and some won’t, and some take it case by case.

2. Details about your desired setting:
- Finger size
- Do you already have sidestones or would you want your vendor to provide? If the latter, do you want certified stones? Mined or lab stones?
- What stone graduation are you looking for - more or less severe?
- Do you have specific wants re. Method of manufacture of the mount (cast, handforged)? My personal suggestion on this would be to leave it up to the vendor.
- Metal type/colour?

3. Details affecting project management
- Are you on a specific timeline? If so communicate this right up front and ask if the vendor has the capacity to meet your timeline.
- Budget. The vendors we recommend on here aren’t the pawn shop sort where your quote changes based on your accent and how you’re dressed - a quote for X will be effectively the same regardless of who’s asking. So my recommendation is to tell the vendor your budget early in convo, and also tell them what you want, and ask how close you can get if budget isn’t quite sufficient to meet 100% of the goal aesthetic.
- Vendor should only email/text you, etc.

Haha I also adore @yssie 's 5 stone!!! Such a wonderful inspiration to use. I think the points she made above are super helpful
