I am looking at two 1.7 oval diamond but am having trouble choosing between the two. I would appreciate your opinion on visual appeal as well as value between the two.

here is a link to the video: Video and photo : Photo

The one on the is :
E VS1 EX EX none (shallow depth) - $20k

The one on the right is F VS1 VG VG none -$18.5k
Certs are attached. Thanks!

The one on the left appears to have less dark bowtie effect (obstruction) in the video.

Are these two your only options?

These are the two jeweler recommended from those he was able to see on the database around the 1.7 carat mark and within my budget. He also personally recommended these cutters.

Are you open to purchasing online from a PS vetted vendor?

If you want to take a look at what is available, here is a link to the search:

If you want to stick with one of the two options from your local jeweler, then I understand completely.

I would prefer to stick to my local jeweler to see in person first. Thank you though.

I prefer the one on the right. I feel like it has better light return.

I think the one on the left looks sparklier. Can you get a video in indirect lighting rather than sunlight?

Wow they are both pretty! I honestly like both and think they have really pretty cuts. Nice size too! Please post an update when you decide and show us the setting too!

I am more drawn to the one on the left, but not an oval expert so take with a grain of salt!

If you look at the GIA reports, you can see how the second report (for the diamond on right ) shows a facet pattern with a facet directly centered on each tip at 12 and 6 o’clock. And in the video you can see how that facet doesn’t reflect much light.
My oval diamond has this same issue. It drives me crazy because in many lighting situations those two facets appear dark.
I am not an expert ! But I prefer the diamond on the left.

They both look great in the photo (don't see dark bow-ties!). In the video,

Left stone:
The one on the left certainly appears bigger and more spready because of the shallow cut. Also, I believe the additional sparkles being seen are due to the larger area of the tinier, crushed ice facets scintillating faster in the sunlight (because they are smaller). This stone has more crushed ice, with only larger facets in the 'bow tie' region, across the belly.

Right stone:
Re: the facets of the right stone directly centered on each tip at 12 and 6 o’clock -- They are larger, broader facets that will scintillate less than crushed ice in the sun, but potentially will give bolder flashes of light that are slower. Those larger facets may appear darker in direct sunlight the way stones with better light return go dark in sunlight. Meaning in other lighting environments, they may outperform the crushed-ice areas. The stone on the right has larger facets in the north, west, east, and south tips.

My oval has a facet pattern similar to the one on the right, but with smaller table and shorter depth. I, personally, prefer the more mixed pattern of bold flashes and pin-point scintillation throughout my stone. The bolder flashes speak to me more in real life and the mix keeps it interesting. Further, with the pitfalls of the traditional oval cut, the more larger facets the better, to give it the additional help it needs, compared to other cuts. lol.

Aside the from the facet pattern, I prefer the table-depth combination of the stone on the left in the video. The right stone's combo makes the center to appear dark, giving a fish-eye type look. If I could put the 12 and 6 o'clock facets on the stone on the left, it would be perfect. lol

But, this is all personal preference. No matter which stone you like more, compare them both in as many lighting scenarios as possible -- out of the sun and out of the jeweler's spotlights.
