Hello, @Sunshine812 !
I think both of these show a bit too much digging based on the GCAL Scope images...maybe I'm interpreting wrong.

Diamonds with a GIA+AGS report would probably be the strictest right now, in my opinion.

IGI is rolling out their brand new cut grading system with Ideal-Scope analysis and light performance assessment.

Good morning, thanks so much for responding! I was looking at purchasing a 3-3.5c and was provided these two to review. I was not sure how to differentiate a 8X from a 8X and if the money was worth it? I am so glad you provided me this insight before purchase!
Do you think from the “digging” the sparkle will not show as much???

Good morning and you're welcome!
Yes, digging may very well lead to noticeably increased dullness and leakage in the center under the entire table facet.

Thank you for supplying the images chart. In looking at your chart and the picture attached, is it both the pavilion and crown? And why in the chart there is no green in the middle compared to what I was provided with a clear green circle in middle?

This is what was supplied with the diamond, isn’t this an Asset picture?

Yes, that is an AGS ASET Scope image.
I was looking at the GCAL Scope image (different from ASET):

Have you considered GIA graded diamonds? GIA does have guidelines and restrictions for the amount of painting or digging for their Excellent cut grade.

Example: this one is listed just under US$3000

Thanks again for providing me some more insight!

I so appreciate the GIA graded stone, much better price too! I thought a VVS1 is a better cut than VS1? I also thought the cut was the most important? But I’m just a newbie, lol

If there are a couple more you might see, or if you were looking for a Lab round, is There one out there you’d pick?

Thanks so much

You're quite welcome!

VVS1 and VS1 are clarity grades, which are separate from cut grades.

Cut is absolutely crucial!

Thanks for the additional information, good read. Do you know why I might not be hearing from other PSers?

I'm not great at reading the images from a GCAL report. To my eye, both of the gcal options looked fine. But i prefer the cut of the one Deja found

Thank you for responding and providing your insight, I sure do appreciate it.
When you say you prefer the cut of the one Deja found, is that by a number or HCA tool?
Have a great evening.

Hi again, thanks for reaching out to others. I input the numbers of the diamond you mentioned in HCA ( is this what I would use to find “ideal” cuts ) and the stone under Cut Advisor Score is 1.5 green area, but spread is very good, does spread matter?
Thanks again

No, it doesn't matter...keep in mind that the HCA is an estimating tool based on limited info off a grading report. It's meant to be a mass rejection tool, not an individual selection tool.

I just landed in Hong Kong from Seoul in a long extended family vacation. So sorry I can’t help at the moment!

Hi Deja, here is the link that showed three diamonds, see how hard it is to decide on a stone! Hard to believe these three shiny stones would look dull and possibly stop shining.

They do look great! in this video!
Can you jeweler provide a video showing them in indirect/diffused lighting?

Hello, I tried asking and he is asking me what I am looking for, meaning the video of the three stones should be enough. Just so I know how to respond to him, I’m asking for a video in indirect/diffused lighting so it will show me what?
Thanks again

PS - are there any other rounds out there besides the one you sent me that look good to you? In 3ct range?

It'll show you the brilliance (as opposed to fire) and allow you to assess them further.

Sure there are...lots. :)
What's your approximate budget cap for just the loose diamond?
We can do some searching and provide you with more examples/suggestions.
