Three of my grad school friends were planning to throw me an engagement party this weekend (going to dinner with the girls and then meeting up with the guys later for drinks), but I forgot until last week that DF and I were supposed to go to a play on Friday night (it's a yearly tradition so we didn't want to miss it). I ended up inviting a bunch of my friends to the play with me, so we'll be going from 7:30-9:30 on Friday. My friends then presented me with three new options for the e-party:. This is directly from her email:
Option 1: we go out for drinks (and dancing) after the play. We could go some place that has just a bar in one area and dancing in another so that everyone is happy. Since we won’t get out until 10 or so, this would make for kind of a late night. Then, the girls could go to fancy brunch on Sunday or dinner on Sunday.
What would you guys do? I'm so thrilled that they're doing this for us and I certainly don't want to impose on anyone, but my friends were very clear that my DF and I should choose what's best for us. He doesn't have a preference so it's up to me.

Option 2: We go out the weekend of your birthday (2 weeks later), having a huge bday-engagement get together, where we go out to a nice dinner and then party all night.
Option 3: We go out this Saturday night to dinner and then to bar. Katie thinks this might be too much going out for some people in one weekend though and that’s why it’s unsure if it’s a good idea.
