Saw a ring today that looked real nice. It was priced at $22,000 with a platinum setting and .32 of baguettes. The center stone was a 2.41 carat E/VS2 Oval. I''ve seen other ovals of this size, but this one was huge and equal to most 3 carat stones. Which leads me to the issue of depth %, it was a shallow 55.8% but the bowtie looked reasonable and the stone really shimmered in all different kinds of light. It has medium blue floresence, and had hints of blue in bright sunlight, but no milkiness. The other stats are as follows:

Table: 60%
Dimensions:11.61 x 7.64 x 4.26
L/W - Ratio: 1.52
Polish: VG
Symmetry: G
Girdle: Med to Thick

Is it worth the money? And should the Floresence and Depth be a concern if the stone looks good to the eye?

Help!

The medium blue fluorescence is not a problem.

The 55.8% depth is considered a shallow depth, but many people are fond of the type of reflection pattern a stone like this exhibits. It usually has a shimmering reflection pattern under the table that reduces the bowtie effect.

It also makes for a large surface diameter.

As far as the price is concerned, I think you've got a bit of room to negotiate. It's priced at an average bricks & mortar store pricing level. You might want to run some searches on the PriceScope menu above to see if you can get some internet pricing level comparables, and then go in armed with knowledge when you get down to the final deal making.
