I am just about all saved up for wedding bands. I am getting a jazz style eternity band. I'm going back and forth on 1/2 vs 3/4. The price difference is a bonus on the 1/2 but not significant enough to make a decision on. So I'd like to hear why you would choose a 1/2 or 3/4 over the other.

Also, my ering is palladium. I've heard you should never mix metals before but I've also been told it's not a big deal if I get my wedding ring in platinum to wear against my palladium ering. Thoughts?

Here is a pic of my ering with a cheapy jazz type eternity ring I got to see how I liked the style with it.

I think mixing white metals is fine. I don't really mix different colors except under certain circumstances lol. Like, I will wearing my yellow gold eternity stacked with my white gold eternity bands, etc. I think palladium and platinum would be fine.

Nothing wrong with mixing metals. It is the exposed girdle of the diamonds you have to worry about as these are much harder than metals and would cut through the setting like a saw.

hey SCG! i totally missed your three stone (took a little break from PS) and missed your reveal! Looks Absolutely Incredible! well done :appl:

As for your metal mixing. don't see anything wrong. color may differ slightly other than that, I agree with Stone, however your getting a jazz (full diamond bezel band, so I don't worry too much).
Although from my experience, even my 14k gold (channel set wedding ring) still rubbed against my 14k gold e-ring - no diamonds exposed, overtime there was a bit of metal loss :errrr: creating a little dent in the e-ring, but I wore that ring for Five years straigth 24/7 never took off either rings. So just from that experience, I say that even the same metal can wear each other down with constant friction between the two. The only solution to no metal issues is to solder, but I'm not a fan of soldering my rings together.

Thanks for the responses on the metals. It seems most are in agreement that palladium and platinum can be mixed but what are the thoughts on getting a 1/2 eternity vs a 3/4 eternity? I know I don't want a full eternity.

Thanks on my ering D&T! I love it!

Seems like with a 3/4 if the ring spun a little it still wouldn't be a big issue. I would think a 1/2 would show metal even with just a small amount of spinning. Don't know though, no personal experience.

I like my half eternities. I don't like rings with diamonds on the bottom where they can rub against door knobs, steering wheels, briefcase handles, etc. It's more about not abusing the stones than occasionally seeing some metal up on top. My rings don't spin all that much, so half eternities are fine for me.

I liek half eternities OR full. Not 3/4. To me, the half seems somehow purposeful and esthetically pleasing on its own. But a 3/4 just seems unfinished. Both will spin and you will be adjusting them anyways.

forgot to answer your questions about the 1/2 or 3/4. Well I've had all three and I actually prefer my half eternity more, for a number of reasons.
- like Fly Girl mention, I don't like to abuse my diamonds and I find that with my active lifestyle that I worried too much about my stones even in a bezel setting, eveytime i opened up doors or pushing carts, really made me think about how hard I was pushing the carts or holding on to things with my diamonds being stressed with the pressure I was placing on it.

-I know its a nussance to turn that ring back upright at times, but then that gives me opportunity to look at my rings and enjoy them.

-3/4 eternity, I find for my ring size, it was just a small 4mm plain band, but I didn't feel that it gave me a enough reassurance on diamonds not being exposed to stress. Although it was nice that even just the slightest turn, that you still had diamonds upright, however, then the other diamonds would be subjected to pressure points if you don't readjust your ring so the plain band is in the middle underneath.

just my thoughts, everyone has difference in perference, and tolerance.

I do love every attributes to all three options, but you have to decide what you can live with or without, and what you are willing to put up with.

oh and Ditto to Dreamer  she kept it simple... and I totally agree! both will spin regardless.

Thanks ladies. I hadn't even thought of how the diamonds on the bottom of a 3/4 would be treated. Helpful info!

I like the 3/4 eternity, the more stones the better. I like the way I ony see stones down the sides of my finger like when I am typing and watching the sparkles on my fingers. As for turning, have thought about getting it made with the euro shank??? :naughty:
