Ok, So I need to find a job but have absolutely no idea where to even begin. I currently am self employed just doing modeling, but there is nothing and next year is going to be very slow so I need to get a job.

Whats even worse is I have no idea what kind of job to get! I have a bachelors in Finance and Im currently getting my Masters in Business Administration. Any Ideas??

So, is it worth it search through Monster for a job? Should I check my local newspaper as well?? My school has a career center, so when i get back from Christmas vacay I am going to go to school and see what they have.

Any advice would be awesome, and thanks in advance!! :-)

Do you have any previous experience?

Are you looking for certain hours?

Are you looking for certain pay?

An employment agency or a temp agency may be good places to start. With the terrible job market, anywhere and any place possible, including Craig''s List, is worth a shot. Seems like the job section in my paper is getting thinner and thinner as all jobs are being posted online and Monster is worth a try. Plus look at the websites of various companies that interest you and see what jobs they have available.

I''m thinking your school where you got your Finance degree would be my first stop. Best of luck!!!

I would check with your department. Sometimes the advisers can offer some insight into the industry.

I know that accounting and finance jobs are still doing ok overall, especially with tax season coming up. Hopefully it helps you in your search!

Yep, accounting was listed in the paper as one of the top five recession proof jobs.

See, I find this interesting. Someone who has completed a finance degree and is currently doing a Masters - but has no idea how to get a job!?.

I firmly believe that job-searching/interviewing skills etc should be part of any higher education. I mean, its a bit silly really..
As should personal finances/money management be part of a primary/high school education.

BB, please understand I am Not criticizing you at all in anyway, this is simply a musing on education issues. I apologize I can't offer any specific advice, but I would definately start with your careers centre - what about a graduate job. Do you have companies that run those programs where you live? Or perhaps a local government job?

What was your major? What type of job would you enjoy?
